Absolutely they should. The patient has the right to select their physician and if they are uncomfortable, they can go to another physician.

That may or may not be true depending on location, insurance plans etc. Physicians take an oath to trat disease. If they attempt to raise faith issues and a patient askes them not to, the physician should honor their request. After all, the patient is paying a fee for the physician's services.

A Christian physician holds allegiance to a higher authority. The point of the article, though, was whether or not a Christian physician has a right to bring up faith issues at all...not whether or not a patient has a right to ask them not to. Of coarse a physician, as well as anybody else, should respect the right on an individual to not hear words of hope. Regardless, the AAPN or AMA or any other organization has no right to restrict the free speech of a physician and how he conducts his medical practice. So yes, they should respect the rights of their patient BUT they should not be muted by some other organization.

As you know brother, I run a manufacturing plant but come in my office, and it will be obvious who my Master is. It holds true in any one of my wife's waiting or exam rooms or even her office. AND we actually find people open up to us because they know who we serve...and for those who feel uncomfortable with us, they can go elsewhere.

I honestly do not know how people, physicians included, can be expected to live compartmentalized lives.

 Just a thought. Next time one of us visit a doctor, why don't we talk to them about Jesus? Might be they want to hear! (hope none of you have to visit a doctor in the foreseeable future though!)

Stay well.

Blessings.

:thumbsup: Actually, my wife tells me that since many of her patients know who she serves, they initiate discussion AND often request prayer...and offer prayer. ALL of us need to openly share our FAITH regardless of the venue.

Yes - I think they do, too. I know that 14 years ago - I was given a very dire diagnosis of uterine cancer. It was not a good prognosis. My oncologist was a wonderful man who came into the examination room and told me the 'score'... then he said that we were going to "form a team"... him, me, the radiologist, the surgeon, my family and most importantly - God. I was just stunned... and then we prayed.... we prayed before my 2 surgeries and every time he saw me... I was surrounded with the most blessed professionals and my children and my beloved husband gave me the boost I needed - but, God... He was the Healer.. the Great Healer.... I recall the most incredible peace when I realized that God had me and "the team" in His hands...

These healers are so constricted by man's laws... I believe if they are Christians and walk in the faith... and can talk to you about your death - they should be able to talk to you about God if you ask and they agree... I am so fortunate to have physicians who are Godly people and we do discuss our faith and we pray together.

Wow that is way out of the norm. Talking about God in the medical profession is supposed to be taboo. Good for your doctors.

I don't think that any physician would force their faith on a patient.

In the above article it is suggested that doctors could discuss spiritual matters as part of the doctor patient relationship.

I think it would be easier to open up to a doctor or nurse in a life or death situation if they were open about their own beliefs.

Sorting out all the denominational issues would be another matter however.

God bless

Christofine

I would not want any doctor telling my children about their god . They have a job to do - they should concentrate on that - not evangelizing . This can be life or death .

For myself , we all know those "denominational issues" . They are very annoying and they will creep up eventually . That is , if they are not a Muslim or other . If christian doctors are allowed , so can they .

Again , I would want them to do the best job they could for which I am paying . Anything besides that may be brought up later .

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
