Christian messages can be found in lots of things. Whether you see it or not depends on whether one looks for it.

The question, though, is are the non-Christians seeing this?

Granted, quite a few of them were uptight about her use of Scripture in the last book.

Are they seeing it in The Chronicles of Narnia?

Yes. And a lot of them are annoyed by it.

Ah - but it did exist "as we know it." Being "secret" does not negate that.

Semantics. The fact remains that when CS Lewis wrote his books being a witch (or wiccan) was not the second fastest growing religion in the US. . . .

Yes, it's semantics. I was simply being a stickler over the semantics. :)

The author has stated several times that the Christian argument is wrong and that the Wiccan view is wrong, but, they disregard her point and believe what they want.

:emot-handshake:

Compare:

The series is heavily laden with Christian imagery. JK Rowlings is a Christian, she is a member of the Church of Scotland. She has stated, she does not practice witchcraft nor does she support such stuff.

I challenge you to pick up the book the Death Hallow Lectures by John Granger and Unlocking Harry Potter by Granger as well.

He goes through the books and explains the series and the literature fashion that JKR used in her novels.

I have not read the thread, but have you read Harry Potter? If not shame on you, the use of a book you have not read and then making a claim about it, is very dishonest. If you have then you clearly have no understanding of Harry Potter or JKR. And you fell for the propaganda that have been shelled out about the book, and that all have been proven false. By the either JKR or by others who have explained the series and the influence behind them.

There is a Christian message behind the book and it is quite obvious to those who are "Grounded in the Word of God" and in literature.

P.S. I have read the series.

But I am not understanding your priorities.

The difference between what I said and what you showed is really apples and oranges.

It is your right to not want to read Harry Potter. But that is as far as it goes. If you have not read it, then you have no basis for your argument, it is hearsay, pure and simple. And I have read it several times and you are dead wrong on your conclusion.

LoL...thats a flimsy argument. I do not have to read a book in order to know what its about. We have literary scholars all over the place who have delved into the wicked world of witchcraft presented in Harry Potter and they have enough credibility and smarts to let me know all I need to know on the subject. I've never read the Satanic Bible either...is it okay for me to trust people who have read it and proclaimed it evil? Or do I have to read that myself too? That sounds like a spirit of rebellion. Nobody is to be trusted...you must immerse yourself to truly understand.

Now, I will agree that I cannot hold myself up as a final authority on the books, and that I cannot judge the literary skill of the author for myself. I admittedly do limit myself somewhat by refusing to tread into evil waters. However, there is a wealth of academic thought and opinion on those books, and this topic. Those are great resources for people like me who desire to follow the biblical route of not polluting their mind with the evils of the occult and witchcraft, like the Harry Potter series does.

The fact that JK Rowling claims Christianity is undermined by her work. Same as Hitler, who claimed to be a Christian, while openly writing his anti-semitic thoughts. Now I won't judge Rowlings status with the Creator...but she wouldn't be the first person to claim Christianity while participating in a completely ungodly deed.

Actually, everyone I've ever discussed this movie with had no idea it had some kind of christian message. To them it was nothing more than a fantasy film.....not unlike Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

The logic of Harry Potter is not Witchcraft by Alchemy.

I've never wanted to be a witch, but an alchemist, now that's a different matter. To invent this wizard world, I've learned a ridiculous amount about alchemy. Perhaps much of it I'll never use in the books, but I have to know in detail what magic can and cannot do in order to set the parameters and establish the stories' internal logic. JKR 1998.

The misconception of Harry Potter is with the logic of the world, not that it is witchcraft, which is the tool she uses, in her world. But That it is Alchemy.

Which many authors have used:

This site shows a few authors who have used Alchemy.

http://levity.com/alchemy/literary.html

I find it curious that all of the quotes in your signature are from (or in reference to) the homosexual in Harry Potter. Homosexuals in JK Rowlings fantasy world hold alot of wisdom for you I guess. :noidea:

" I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald...If I'd known it would make you so happy, I would have announced it years ago! -- JK Rowling

Yeah...more good stuff for the kiddies!!

And I'm sorry...but there is more than alchemy involved in the Potter books. There is spell casting, astrology, spiritism, clarvoyance, necromancy, and plain old supernatural magic....and thats just the "good" magic for the "good" guys in her books!

"You can do unfocused and uncontrolled magic without a wand (for instance when Harry blows up Aunt Marge) but to do really good spells, yes, you need a wand." -- JK Rowling

Axx, that was a statement made by Rowlings after the books were finished. There is never any indication in word or deed in the books that Dumbledore was gay.

Oh...well then I guess being gay is okay then...as long as it stays in its closet.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
