My friend and her husband are trying to talk me into going to one. How do you feel about them?

I'm just all around skeptical and I'm going to safely assume that God is creating this skepticism so that I do not go.

And He is creating that skepticism for good reason-let those who will, listen to His voice!

Here is the link to the healing conference she goes to: http://ihc09.org/

They are asking for $50 to register. :noidea:

The first time I see where Christ, or even the Apostles, charged to hear Gods word, or accepted cash to heal someone, then I will reconsider. Until then, they are selling God for profit.

It is one thing to pay for it and have God reimburse them with gifts from others, and another to charge for something they got for nothing. So sad ...

First, I will admit that I have never gone to one, so I speak out of ignorance on them. Yet, I always wonder why someone has to go to a conference to get healed? From what I have read about them, they cost good money. I have also wondered why they charge to do Gods work? Is that not charging for a service, therefore, profiting from His gift?

Amen!!!! Salvation and healing are free! Lord have mecy on ignorant people who want to benefit financially from a gift of God! Can't they trust him for their finances? I don't recall the apostle Peter going to healing conferences to heal the sick. It was done in Jesus name. I do remember a gigantic tent revival in Irving, Texs when I was a child, though, of ORAL ROBERTS (before he changed from Pentecostal to whatever he calls himself now??????) and he was praying for the sick. He had been with Jesus Christ, not a healing conference. I will never forget the annointing and power of God coming from that man as long as I live. The demons knew him and came out screaming when he commanded them to. He said, all of you people bow your heads in reverece to God, the cast out demons may come your way and enter you. Now THAT was a miracle healing service. The young people of today may not have ever been to one. It's a pity. But God knows what his children need, another miracle revival would be great.

May I ask you if you mean what you said underlined in red? IF so, can you elaborate on this because it sounds like you are saying that those saved will be possessed by demons.

Onelight, it sounds like what he/she is saying is that once the demons are cast of a person, they are searching for a place to go, like the time they begged Jesus to be cast into the pigs.

Those who have the Holy Spirit upon salvation do not have an empty house for any evil spirit to return to.

I would base going or not on whether people were actually getting healed or not.

As for cost - name me one Christian event that doesn't cost. (That includes not needing a "love offering" to cover expenses.)

Jesus never had to deal with electric bills.

Good point Neb :noidea:. There is nothing wrong with someone recovering the costs of their "conference" (please lets not get into a semantics debate about the word). The only issue I have is when people are asked to pay for their healing, and not just legitimate expenses.

Such is the way of the world. Pack them in as tight as you can, just as the TV preachers do today. Makes me wonder why Christ sent them out in twos, going door to door instead of telling each of them to gather them in marketplaces and do it all at once? Sure would of saved them a lot of time, don't you think? There is no personal relationship between people, which is greatly lacking in today's Christianity. What about those who are too sick to go or too poor to enter? Are then not worthy of Gods healing or the message they are giving? When man places a price on anything of God they are prostituting Him. God never asked a penny from anyone. Anyone, show me one place in scripture what Christ asked for one penny for what He did, or the Apostles or the early church. They all had expenses.

Good point. Jesus asked us to go to Jeruselum, Sammaria, Judea, and to the ends of the Earth to reach the people.

I've been healed by God right in the comfort of my own home. Though I was seriously not in comfort at the time. An earnest heartfelt prayer was what I sent out to Him. While I was praying I agreed in myself that no one could heal me of this pain, only He could. All I said in my prayer was this: "God, I need your help, heal me of this pain". As soon as I finished I felt a hand come from behind me and touch me on my shoulder and go down down down to my chest where the pain was.

I'm telling you, there is nothing like that on Earth. No one was behind me when this happened.

I was filled with so much joy as it was happening and smiling so wide I could eat a banana sideways (not jumping around crazy like as seen on TV). Believe me, you don't need to go to one of those gatherings to be healed.. and my spirit is always disturbed when I hear about those events going on. Something is not right.

That's a wonderful testimony Blien. I have also experienced God's inexplicable grace like that. I didn't have to travel halfway around the world nor did I have to pay money.

Not long after I was saved I experienced God's touch in my living room at home. I was battling depression. I felt like I was being choked to death by depression. I wasn't even thinking about God at that moment, but I felt God presence fill the room and the depression left immediately. Depression was replaced with that joy that you spoke about.

Not only did I experience God's grace, but He was teaching me something too. Depression can be a spiritual problem, not solely a mental health problem. But I suppose that is for another thread.

My goodness, you two are making me cry. I had the very same experience. I was healed from what I thought to be lifelong depression about two months ago. I prayed several times a day every day. I never felt a touch, but I heard His voice.

The only reason I was even curious about the healing conference is because I am still on medication for anxiety. I would like to be healed of that as well. I know that I do need to pray more and be less dependent on the medicine I am taking.

BTW, my testimony is in my signature.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
