UN Body Approves Anti-Israel Report

The United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva approved by a wide margin Friday the controversial Goldstone Report on the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip last winter.

The report accuses Israel of war crimes during its three week military operation to stop rocket fire on southern Israeli communities and put a halt to Gaza weapons smuggling.

Israeli leaders blasted the vote from the decidedly anti-Israel council, which approved the Goldstone document in a special session by a margin of 25 to 6, with 11 members abstaining.

Voting Nations

The United States, Italy, Holland, Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine voted against the report. Russia, China, Egypt, Argentina and Brazil were among the countries that voted for it. Japan, Mexico, Norway and South Korea were among the abstainers. Five countries, including France and the United Kingdom, declined to vote.

It is very frustrating to read such news. Israel continues to have to defend itself not only against hostile and violent enemies but against those who wouldn't know truth or fairness if it came up and gave them a hug. Despite know how close we are to the end I still find it hard to take joy in the events that have lead us to it. I weep that mankind is so full of itself and how naive they are to believe they would or could amount to anything of value without God's guidance. We are like the defiant child who threatens to run away only to walk a couple of blocks and cry and stomp their feet because they couldn't bully their parents into acquiescence. I am dumbfounded how like mankind is to that angel who thought himself equal to his creator.

here's a link to the report, for anyone who wants to make up their own mind. An article from the Jerusalem post saying what a good zionist Richard Goldstone is, at least in the opinoin of his daughter.

Nicole Goldstone, the daughter of Richard Goldstone, whose report on Operation Cast Lead alleged that Israel committed war crimes in Gaza, maintained on Wednesday that her father "is a Zionist and loves Israel."

Speaking from Toronto, where she now lives, Nicole told Army Radio she had many conversations with her father after he was asked to head the UN inquiry.

"I know better than anyone else that he thought however hard it was to accept it, he was doing the best thing for everyone, including Israel," she said. "He is honest, tells things how he sees them and wants to uncover the truth."

Nicole, who said she had read the first 300 and last 100 pages of the report, conceded that it contained some "very harsh" allegations against Israel.

They weren't invaded by the Nazis in WWII....they joined Hitler cheerfully! Before the war, 1/4 of the city was jewish but afterwards there weren't many at all

They sent so many jews to be murdered that Hitler said it was too many and told them to do it themselves. So they lined hundreds of thousands of jews up on the Danube River and shot them in the back of the head and let them float out to sea.

Currently, they have a few politicians who have uttered things as ugly as Achminimejarhead in Iran.

well, i'm glad the usa voted against it...was allittle suprised cause of some of the stuff coming out of washington these days but am glad to see that we still support Israel.....i too want the UN out of the USA...how soon can they pack????
