you've come a long way, baby

ya know, my oldest daughter is very much about feminism. she thinks marriage is all about her, and can't figure out why her marriage is in the pitts. she is so infuriated that ever since she got out of the marine corp, (and is not working) her husband suddenly expects her to CHANGE... i.e. he expects her to wash the laundry and dishes and have a hot meal on the stove after he's worked all day... oh, and the baby's diaper changed. she insists that she had not signed up for this, he knew she was not domesticated when he married her. she doesn't understand why he doesn't treat her like he did when he was happy.

so i keep trying to tell her all sorts of things... i try to explain that this is a woman's role, to be a good wife! that by being a good wife, her husband will be a happy man, and in turn, SHE will be a happy woman!

and her stock answer to that is..... "i'm not going to be a doormat for my husband the way you and (my sister) are to yall's!"

oh brother! where did i go wrong?

I don't know who all of these unhappy women are; I guess I don't know them. I, personally, am a happy woman. :emot-hug:

LOL, i'm a happy woman too! but i do think the study accurately portrays the level of happiness in general that women feel. and i think that, for the most part, the women who are happiest are the ones who are following God's instructions for being a godly woman.

it probably just comes down to how women define happiness.

Very true. Happiness, to me, is being a woman who is equal to men....not in being a pseudo-man.

I've always had joy in my children and now my grandchild. But... there was a time when I had every single material thing I could think of and was miserable. I was in an abusive marriage with a non-believer who hurt my heart, body and spirit - but I HAD (at least according to my friends) "Everything".. Years later, I raised my children with the help of my parents (now deceased) and am busy in my career now that the children are grown... I'm married to a wonderful Christian with whom I am so happy - our home is old and we've enjoyed every minute of renovating this "money pit"... my husband's been laid off 2 times in a year and is now in a job that is a blessing ... we drive older cars and we don't have a lot of things that other people cannot seem to live without.... But, we are so happy. We struggle - together and we pray together and we appreciate things that most people take for granted. I am at the very base of my being - happy. I still have the same obstacles that many face - but I am happy ... at the end of the day, I come home to a man who smiles and hugs me and we fix a meal together and talk about our day and ... it is good. Thank You God - Life is good.

I used to associate with someone who was rather cross with the fact that she had to stay at home and do something as mundane as look after kids when she would much RATHER be with her work colleagues and buy more "stuff" for the house. She felt her brain was shrinking by being at home with the kids.....

Sad.

I stay home and homeschool my youngest son - my brain sure ain't shrinking. I learn a lot right along with my son, and it's fun!

Aaaaannnnnd... I get to correct his math papers! Oh boy do I love math! *happy dance*

Seriously, I love math and love getting to correct his papers. No sarcasm there.

is that really how you define happiness? i mean, i can think of a million things that make me happy, but the ROOT of the happiness... MG, i suspect the root of your happiness goes a lot deeper than just being a woman who is equal to men. i'd be willing to bet the root of your happiness comes from knowing who you are in Christ and living according to God's word.

and i'd also be willing to bet that when that study was done, the average woman whom they interviewed didn't have those roots!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
