It sounds to me like you were having a bad day. No, it wasn't God speaking to you. Dreams may need to be interpreted, but I don't think God speaks to us personally in riddles. He certainly doesn't try to put fear or confusion on us.

That's what my pastor said. He asked me if I felt peace when I thought about what was said to me, two years later. I said..."No, not at all-it brings me a lot of anxiety!" and he said it must have been Satan talking to me then.

i'm not crazy about the idea of being martyred. and i suspect that those who don't want to die a painful death will be more likely to face that than those who relish the idea.

your friend that fantasizes about torturous deaths and talks about how cool it would be sounds like she's got some issues. that kind of talk doesn't glorify God at all, and makes her sound like she's certifiably insane. or on drugs. or psychotic. she needs a lot of prayer.

Well, this girl is very young, and is a strong Christian-much stronger than I am, I'm ashamed to say. One of her most interesting (and disgusting) fantasies of being martyred was to be tied to a tree, and then her legs to a horse who would then take off, so that she would be ripped in two, she said. She said she had heard of someone being martyred that way and she thought how cool it would be. Doesn't seem like it would be a quick death at all. *shudders*

she may be a "stronger" christian, but she's certainly a poorer witness. i was being serious when i said she sounds like she could be psychotic or on drugs. not saying i think she IS, but that's how she SOUNDS, and is very likely how she comes across to unbelievers. not a good witness at all. you might want to mention that to her.

If I thought God told me that, I would be worried sick. And that answers the question :whistling:

good point there... God is definitely not the author of either fear or confusion. kc, how'd you get to be so smart? :whistling:

The best way I was taught was that if you really think God is speaking to you to line it up to the word. If it doesn't match or goes against the word it isn't God.

I know that God speaks to us in many ways, but mostly through His Word of course. I know there are a lot of pastors and people out there who claim to hear God speak to them constantly, over every detail in their life, like what color shoes to wear or whatever. Personally, I think this is their own thoughts in their head that they are claiming to be God's Voice.

With that being said, I know that God does speak to us in our minds at times, in a clear Voice. I have had Him speak to me several times over the last couple of years, and I know, without a doubt that it was Him, and not my own thoughts, or the voice of the Enemy.

I know that we are to test all Spirits to see if what they say lines up with Scripture. For instance, if I heard some voice in my head saying "Go kill your best friend!", I would certainly know that it was the voice of Satan and not God.

If I heard a voice saying..."Go have a drink or two", I know it could be Satan, or it could be my own flesh, because I used to drink a lot.

Anyway, the point of my post is that I wanted to share about a voice I heard in my head a couple of years ago that has really bothered me a lot because I was new in Christ and did not know a thing about "testing the Spirits" at all, so to this day, I do not know if what was said to me could be from God, or from Satan......I'd like everyone's opinions on this.

I was walking across the parking lot at my job one day, not thinking about anything really......and was shocked to hear a clear voice in my head saying........

"Your death will glorify me!"

I do not remember what I felt at that time, other than being shocked out of my daydreams. I was not expecting the "voice", so I know that it was not my own thoughts or flesh.

So it was either God or Satan saying this to me. I do not remember if hearing it gave me peace or not.

I have asked several people about this, and some say that it was God speaking to me, and others say it was Satan trying to scare me. One pastor said that God only speaks about life, not death.

But then, in the Bible, I saw how Jesus was telling Peter how he would die. He told him that his death would "glorify God". I think it was in the book of John, not sure what chapter. It was before Jesus was crucified.

He told Peter that he would go where he would not want to go, and that by this, Jesus was telling Peter how his death would glorify God.

That terrifies me, to be honest. I'm hoping to be counted worthy enough to be raptured......

I would hope that my death would be counted to HIS glory. It would be a shame to live for CHRISTand then just die. I would think this would be one of those, be of good cheer, your death will glorify the LORD". That is just exciting stuff.

It could just be Satan who has turned it into anxiety. Be anxious for nothing. Trust in the LORD with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will make your path streight. Don't worry about tomorrow, HE's got it under control. Trust in the LORd with all of your might and HE will carry you through.

I think this statement bothers me. What do you mean by worthy enough to be raptured? I guess this is a sidetrack, but it is an odd sentiment.

In Luke 21:36, Jesus tells us to, "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

"Escaping all these things" would mean that you would not have to go through them. A lot of people believe this is a reference to the Rapture.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
