Here we go - let's all get together and condemn the movie before any of us have seen it. As for me and my house, we'll wait until after we have seen it to form an opinion.

OK, I checked out some Christian movie reviews. I'd link you to them, but they contain spoilers :noidea: .

Anyway there are positive and negative elements.

Positive -

The theme of faith

Sacrificing all for God

Discipleship

Revering the Word

Negative -

Violence - gory

At the end of the movie the Bible is placed next to the the Talmud and the Koran

(Not mentioned, but I saw) no reference to Jesus' death and resurrection

I saw it and liked it. It's not based on the word, so be warned. It's not that kind of movie. There is no mention of Jesus. There are two simple prayers, that I remember. It's simply a movie (hollywood style) based on keeping the faith. I can't say more or it'd be a spoiler.

I enjoyed it.

I haven't seen it but those who have told me about it say that this movie is the best Denzel Washington to date. They say it's awesome. My son tried to see it two weeks ago but the theater was packed and he left.

Ya'll have fun.. I love sci-fi but hate gore and tehy say there is plenty of that..and the language is said to be very very bad...

I will watch a nice chick flick .. :emot-dance:

I saw the movie last night really enjoyed the example of determination Eli had to walk in spirit and faith,

fullfil the mission the Holy Spirit had directed him to do and completed with few obstacles but endured to the end of his

breathe.

When all this prophecy from the Bible comes to pass we may want to takes notes now on how Eli walked in faith

and that we may be called to walk the same way, someday.

Really enjoyed the education! :thumbsup:

I saw it and I liked it.

You know it was violent and it certainly was not a "Christian" movie in the sense that it was theologically correct etc. But you know it was good and it was a neat concept. It made me thing about the importance of knowing the Word of God and how lucky we are to have access to the Word of God.

The premise is not that far-fetched.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
