Whenever I hear a pastor preach about God and healing and they always use the last part of the verse in 53:5 (And byhis stipes we are healed) I always wonder is it Gods will that every sickness be healed? I understand that Chapter to be about spiritual healing not physical healing. And why is it that if a person is prayed for and they don't heal then the pastor or the person who prayed for the sick one says well you just don't have "enough" faith. That sounds like a cop out. So now the sick person has 2 problems the sickness and the guilt for not having "enough" faith. But didn't Jesus say if you have faith like a mustard seed? Yet Jesus chose not to heal Paul (and he asked three times) and I'm pretty sure Paul's faith was bigger than a mustard seed. But he was told that his sickness would be for his good to keep him humble.

I've seen what you are talking about and it saddens me.

I know others will chime in, but my thinking based on what I have been taught up to this point:

All of the miracles and healings we read about in the NT, or OT for that matter, where done to Glorify God and Jesus or to establish His authority and to carry out His purpose.

You are correct. Those things done on the cross were for spiritual healing.

If God chooses to heal someone today, it is done for His Glory or purpose.

IMO, no person, pastor or otherwise, has enough insight or information to tell another person they do not have enough faith. In order to do so, they would have to be able to see their heart, and only God can do that.

There are many solid Christians who have ailments of one form or another. They are faithful in service, love the Lord and have faith enough to accept any healing God wishes to deliver. What WOF people miss is that God uses people where they are, for a reason. How well do you think a person in a wheelchair will receive advice on how to live in this world under those conditions if it always came from someone who is running around? I am sure they would rather hear from someone from Joni and Friends, those who are there or have been there. Joni Eareckson Tada has one of the best ministries to people in wheelchairs while being crippled herself.

The answer is yes. The question is not one of healing, but one of timing. Some receive healing in this life. Others will wait until the next

:noidea:

If we received full healing here on earth each and every time, what would we die of?

But he was told that his sickness would be for his good to keep him humble.

My thoughts: First of all, no one knows what Paul's thorn in the flesh was, second, Jesus healed every one that asked him. I do believe that "by his stripes we are healed" encompasses everything we humans face. If you say "Oh well, God does not heal everyone, then some christians may think, well, why bother God, after all he does not heal everyone. I'll just suffer on, as it probably is not his will. (Note: If you think it is God's blessing to have cancer, ask him for two cancers, and double your blessings!). It is not his perfect will for anyone to be sick. Then, there are those who do not receive their physical healing. It does not change the word of God because some were not healed.

God can use any circumstance for his glory. No one should be in their faces saying you don't have enough faith or judging them. God is soverign, God is supreme. We know that the devil came to kill, steal and destroy. Ours is a positive faith. So we should have a positive faith regardless of circumstances or physical ailments that God may be gloried -a positive faith that a loving God understands our situations and he cares. Seek the healer, not the healing. Thank him, no matter what you are going through or how sick you are. He will walk with his children through the valleys and guide them through the fiercest storms. When we see the face of Jesus, we will forget life's sorrows.

I have often wondered about prayers being answered, those of healing as well, in the context of this scripture:-

Mar 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

My "wondering" has been, if we have faith strong enough to believe our prayer will be answered, then it will be? Jesus says it will.

Is it just then that when we think it has not, it is a matter of timing, or may be answered in a way we don't understand?

I do believe all of our prayers are answered. Sometimes the answer is "no", sometimes the answer is "be patient, eventualy it will be granted", sometimes the answer is "yes, for the glory of God".

I believe we should ask God to help us with whatever problems or illnesses plague us...ask... God's help may not come in the form we expect (or "demand"), but His help will come... sometimes to help us endure, sometimes to help us be rid of...but His help and His love is always there.

I have talked with people who have lost their faith in God, because they "demanded" that God help them in a certain way. That way was all they were looking for and when it didn't happen that way, they assumed God didn't listen, or didn't care...or doesn't even exist!

Does he "heal" everyone? ... if you mean, does he take away everyone's sickness or problem... the answer is no. His own Son prayed and asked to have the upcoming agony of the cross taken away...God's answer was "no". But God was there with Jesus and still loved and cared for Him. Jesus was "healed" later by the rewards of His home in Heaven and reign of all the universe.

I think we need to be wary of demanding anything from God...even when we ask, we may be demanding in essence. We need to ask in the same way Jesus did..."Not my will, but thine be done".

I have always seen this as meaning that when we are in His will, and ask or say something, He will grant it. Have you ever prayed about something and had a check in your spirit where you felt that the prayer will not be answered as requested, but could not explain why? To me, that is the Holy Spirit telling me that what I am asking for is not the will of the Father. When we read about what Jesus is teaching His disciples, we have to realize that He is also bringing them into Gods will, teaching them how to abide in Him. When we abide in Him, and ask, we are asking that His will be done, not ours.

Perhaps the Lord is referring to the "gift" of faith? I also agree that we have to pray according to God's will, but God's will is that we have life and that more abundantly. That covers a lot of territory. We just need to understand the nature of God is to give life and good things. With a world cursed by sin, we christians may walk through many sorrows. I have been sick for many many years and take medicine for it. God's way was the medicine and it works. He has not enlightened me as to what caused it, how to fix it naturally (without medicine) or how to believe for a miracle of instant healing. But I still trust Him with all of my heart and believe he wants good things for me. God bless.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
