The Bible is a collection of books and letters and religious writings that have been written over the course of many 100's of years. This book is hands down, the most read book, and by far the most influential in human history. At one time it was a crime to have this book in one's posession, in one's one native language. At one time the penalty of of such an act was to burnt alive. The Church of the day enforced these rules. Many people however in their zeal to make the bible available to the masses defied the laws about translating and distributing the bible in peoples' native tonques. Many of these people paid the ultimate price. Men like Hus, Wycliffe and many others must never be forgotten. We must never take for granted our bibles, in our homes, libraries and book stores, as they did not get there without a severe struggle.

What is so unique about this book? This book is an amazing book. It is a book that shows many things. The book shows God's active work to unite man to Himself. The book also shows how man can become united with God and in so doing become his true self and have the light of life! The book also has the most significant historical event that has ever happened on this earth. God has become a human, walked our earth, was rejected, crucified and rose from the dead. It is the ultimate historical event between God and man.

The bible thus contains the words of life. It contains the way man can become whole with His creator. This book however is written in a special way. It is not written to be understood with eyes of the flesh. Many words can have many meanings, thus totally changing what the interpreter's message of what the bible says. Thus there are many interpretations of the bible and many of these interpretations are for purposes that are not good. Many of these interpretations are deceitfully accepted as they promise people life without actually having to obey God's voice. Thus even though the bible shows us how we can have life, many who are not spiritual use the bible to continue in their own spiritual death. The bible is true but it must be read properly or it becomes a tool of the devil.

We are not alone in this world. None of us are alone. God is with us all and He wants to gift us the gift, of Himself. He is here to give us life, joy and meaning. He is here to give us love. We must always obey His voice in our work, our relationships, our understanding of reality and our reading of the bible. Let's all obey God's voice when we read the bible so that its message of life can be revealed.

Praise the Lord!!

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Joh 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Joh 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

I guess I do?

Our only problem today is knowing how to use them in subordination to God's Holy Spirit who, in reality and in contrast to Catholicism's Sacred Magesterium, is the only source that can infallibly convert written words into the Living Word of God.

I am all for listening to the Holy Spirit.

However, by what standard do you determine which though, insight, vision, whatever is actually from the Holy Spirit?

How many cults and false teaching have been and are around based on what people believe they heard from the Holy Spirit? (And yes, several genuinely do believe it was the Holy Spirit.)

What you write here is very very true. Lots of cults and false teachings come from people claiming to be from God or that the teaching is of the Lord.

How do you tell? It is very important that you be able to tell. You must listen to God yourself. You must draw close to His Spirit in you. From there He will guide you as to what is correct and what is false.

Indeed.

Never has a book been compiled for such questionable original intent only to end up serving such divine objective.

God is Sovereign and will use man's endeavours utterly as he wishes in the unfolding of his will.

Emperor Constantine ordered the convening of the first Council of Laodicea because he had embraced the early Church as being Constantinople's State religion.

He was intent that it should not be undermined by division and the 'canonisation' of which scriptures should be accorded authority and which should be rejected was ordered for the purpose of marginalising the sects which claimed authority for the epistles which supported their specialities and disputed authority for those which undernmined them.

On completion Constantine order the church to produce the first recorded 50 copies of a composite 'Bible' for distribution throughout Constantinople in the 4th century.

Not the best of original motivation.

Next production was of the Latin Vulgate with Catholicism's Sacred Magesterium claiming sole authority to read, interpret, and issue selected edicts to control the beliefs and conduct of their adherents.

Again somewhat suspect motivation.

But God is Sovereign and we wouldn't have those scriptures today were it not for those suspect origins.

Our only problem today is knowing how to use them in subordination to God's Holy Spirit who, in reality and in contrast to Catholicism's Sacred Magesterium, is the only source that can infallibly convert written words into the Living Word of God.

PTL indeed.

Mike.

Mike, there is a difference in what I say and what Seeker is saying. Can you see it?

Isaiah 55:11

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

I am trying to see it?

What??

You mean you can't see the Emperor's clothes? :whistling:

Mike.

Still looking........

Don't get like that my friend and brother.

I agree that we shouldn't spread ourselves too thin. It can have the affect of watering down the message as not enough time can be given to inquiries.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
