Do you ever come across something or someone that reminds you of your destructive life before you came to Christ? How do you handle it?

I just recently came across a bunch of nasty poems I wrote and it's heartbreaking. It seems like it was a totally different person writing these poems. I think it was.

There is also someone in my life that likes to bring up past incidences. I get upset, but I really should be praising God that those sins are no longer with me. It's difficult though. Much of me would very much like to forget the terrible things I did.

The parts of my past that do not honor God, I discard. There is no need to aid the enemy in his reminding us of how wretched we were, our memories do that enough. As for old acquaintances that do Satan's work through them, I no longer have anything to do with them unless God leads me to them for His purpose.

You are a new creation in the Lord now. Throw away all those things which are not who you are anymore... Do not dwell on them - Onelight is right.. Unless God leads you to re-visit an old acquaintance - don't. God Bless.

You can turn the bad things you've done and the bad people you have known into evidence of how a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can change one's life and make them a new person.

Yes, you can, but be wise to what you share and who you share it with. What Christ did for you is a pearl, a precious pearl.

:noidea: Good question. If I was to let the past, my past, affect me in an meaningful way, I would have gone mad long ago.

I do use some incidents to remind me of who I was if I find myself in danger of "reverting". I stood on the edge of a black pit so often, I promised myself I would never return there. So I know the danger signs and am on constant alert for them. I don't let them control me one iota now, I use them to my advantage.

Yes. I call him the circuit court judge. :noidea:

How do you handle it?

Slipping him a couple Andrew Jacksons makes most of the bad go away... :)

It makes me very upset when someone brings up my nasty past. But I want to stop getting upset because me being upset does not glorify God. I am going to try my hardest to instead give praise each and every time that ugliness is put in front of me again.

I've tried to use my testimony to bring people to Christ but I think I've failed. Maybe my testimony isn't good enough. I just recently shared my story with a family member who is pagan. I want so desperately for her to turn her life to Jesus but she says she believes in many gods and goddesses. The thing is she has many mental illnesses which I used to have. Mine have completely vanished and hers just get worse. I think she has a new diagnosis every year. Why can't she see that her religion isn't working and that mine (the real God) does! He can heal her of all these problems but she just doesn't see it. :whistling:

Anyway, sorry I've rambled. The poems I recently came across were so terrible. I wish I could share them here but I don't think anyone (myself included) would appreciate them. Satan definitely had a tight grip on me.

It's the Gospel that brings people to Christ. Don't get into a huge debate with her, just ask her if she thinks she's a good person, she'll no doubt say she is (the Bible says all men proclaim their own goodness) then take her through the 10 Commandments and ask her if she has ever lied (false witness) stolen (even if it's something small) committed adultery (Jesus said if you lust you've committed adultery in your heart) etc. Show her in God's eyes she is not a good person and that she has violated His Laws. Then ask her, in light of her own admisssion of guilt, does she think God will then send her to Heaven or Hell when she dies?

If she is broken at heart over her sins, then take her through the good news of the Gospel. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
