Sabbath or Sunday ?

No one said they had authority over the scriptures, I used them to show that the early Christians did not keep the Sabbath like you claim they did. It is called history, you should look into it from time to time.

And I still find it highly offensive that you would call those that gave their lives for Jesus the names that you call them.

Ignore the history if you wish to be ignorant.

Many of the Nazis SS went to church on Sunday also. What does that prove?

yes I can, ignorance offends me, and one who ignores history because it does not agree with their view falls into that category.

again...you can stop being ignorant because history doesn't agree with your narrow view anytime now.

So gathering in the synagogue to study God's Word was all that was required of the Sabbath? Somehow I don

I have considered them, that is why I realize that the Sabbath was part of the Mosaic Covenant and was not recognized before that.

Maybe you and/or your european theologians didn't read the first book of the Bible???

Genesis 2:3 is pretty clear. God recognized it and His opinion is the only one that really counts on the matter since He says it is holy unto HIM.

Trying to live the New Covenant under the rules and regulations of the Old Covenant is what half of the New Testament was written to get people to stop doing. Maybe if you spent more time reading the writings of Paul and less time legalizing what day of the week is more important you would know this.

I don't live by rules. I live by a relationship. That relationship is built on truth, not theological devices and concepts. It is TRUE that God created man and gave us the Sabbath for rest. He has never changed His mind about that or you could bet He would say so in His Word.

If you think it is in the Word then just give me the chapter and verse please??

What about all the books written by Paul warning the Jews not to force their old Laws on the gentiles?

There is one book where Shaul admonishes the Galatians that they can not confuse a relationship to the Law as if it is a relationship to the Lord.

Yet you seem unwilling to admit (or maybe you're just as ignorant of the New Covenant Scriptures?) that Paul and all the Apostles have nothing but respect for the Law of God, the Sabbath, and the foundation from which our Lord comes.

Bad form, sir.

It matters not if the first day started on Saturday night or Sunday morning, the fact is they still met on the FIRST DAY, which is not the SABBATH.

so now they are Nazis!:)

that is great!

logic escapes you, eh?

I have quoted from a history book,

I quote the bible.

why did the Jewish leaders get mad at Jesus for healing on the Sabbath?

why did they get mad at Jesus for letting his followers get grain on the Sabboth?

seems the Jews of Jesus' time didnt know much about history either!

Were these jews not studying the scriptures in a synagogue on the Sabbath?

This is the point I made...and again logic escapes you

But to answer your diversionary tactical questions....they absolutely were rejecting the Word of God and HIS LAW in preference to their own theological interpretations....much like you are.

no, our disagreement is whtehr it is binding for those that dont live udner the law.

Only the unsaved can live "under the law" and the only binding to that is how they will be judged.

and this is the key...almost exclusively jews teaching gentiles They met on the Sabbath in the begining as that was what they were used to doing.

thanks for proving my point! They did what God had told them. Please read your own signature.

As more and more gentiles were converted to Christianty the Sabbath went the way of the rest of the Law.

Yes, Greek philosophy took over and kicked the jews out.

Well it is a good thing that I have you to show me the truth so that I can leave behind my racist ways

Up to this point I have made no accusation of that. Are you making a confession?

If you want to follow the law, have at it, that is your right.

I simply recognize that God is the sovereign authority of the Universe.

If you wish to be lawless that is up to you.

Did God Change? Here is what the Lord God Almighty has to say on this issue.

Malachi 3:6-7

"I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty.

If we as Christians would follow Jesus, and do as He did on the Sabbath, we would turn the world upside down again. I started a thread on How did Jesus Keep the Sabbath please read it.

your friend in Christ.joe

ps I worship on Sunday. And i am not a nazi

If the law can not be kept as you state then King David was a liar because he continually said different.

Psalm 119:44

So shall I keep Your law continually,Forever and ever.

Psalm 119:55

I remember Your name in the night, O LORD, And I keep Your law.

So King David lied?

this according to James...

For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

was he wrong? die he lie? maybe the Bible is in error? or maybe David meant he did the best that he could.

you pick

This is why we have forgiveness, notice what James calls the Law...

AHA!

Here's the key

"our law" it was against their law. Many Jews had developed their own laws and requirements, this is like the Talmud.

It is not against God's Law to associate with Gentiles. Please find me ANY scripture Torah, in God's Law where Gentiles and Jews are forbidden to associate.

Again... "our law" not "God's Law"

yes, this is the key. The "Law" or the "law" had taken on so many meanings that no one knew left from right and right from wrong.

this is why we dont live under the Law or the law anymore, we live under Grace.

Can you please find me the Old Testament scripture that says Jew and Gentile can not interact or associate?

They never met on Sundays for any Sabbath function. They met the first day which is (to this day) Saturday night. Sunday was never intended to be a new kind of Sabbath. The early believers did not change it. Show me in scripture where this change occurred?

The only thing that we know for sure they met on the Sabbath for was to preach the Word.

Is that the only Sabbath function there was?

And they did this on Sunday also if we are to believe the words written in Acts.

Where in Acts did they meet, worship on a Sunday?

RunningGator, when you get a chance, I was hoping to get your view point on some of these questions:

How was King David (a big time sinner) able to claim that he Loved and Kept the Law, if it is impossible for us to keep the Law.

In Colossians 2 in the context of the whole chapter, what was nailed to the Cross and made a spectacle of? The Holy Law of God... or the Principalities, philosophies, and traditions of Man?

In this scripture in Acts what are the false witnesses saying?

Acts 6

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say,

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
