Ever wondered if the longings in your heart to do something are from the Lord? Ever sit and feel discouraged that they aren't happening??

I have struggled with this all my life. In fact - I would like to meet someone who really and truly have never struggled with this. I know we all dream dreams. But do we dream realistically? Are we dreaming God's dreams - his will for us? Or are they selfish? Is it wrong to dream something that will make you happy???

I realized years ago that the closer I got to God, the more I would know His heart and His will for me. I would begin to dream His dreams and I asked that mine that were not of Him would die away. They wouldn't fulfill anyways. But then began the process of weeding out the useless dreams, to the good, to the maybes, to the ......it was like sorting laundry.

So I am starting the book called The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson . I have heard it is a good book. And I am thinking back on all the dreams I have had since I was little. Writing them out and praying for each of them. I want to see where they are going. Is it yes, no, maybe so?

I thought if anyone was interested, you could post dreams you had here. Things you have always wanted to do. Someone once told, me if the dream you have you could carry out on your own strength or resources, might not be from God. He usually requires big faith action in Him to realize your dreams.

About a year and a bit ago, I attended a retreat, where we all played a game. It was if you could do one thing in this world and be guaranteed success - what would you do? It brought about some seriously awesome dreams being shared!! Then, just this past Spring, God told me I was about to enter my Promised Land next year. I got excited!!! Fulfilled promises from the Lord!! Ones I have been praying about for years??? WOOOHOOOOOO!!! Then I considered the Israelites. To get them to the Promised Land was a dream - and a gift from God. However, it required action and faith to get there. They had obstacles to over come. That sobered me up a bit.......

so what is your dream (s)? if you were guaranteed success for one thing - what would you take that chance on??

Just thought it may be interesting to hear. Also, a great place to encourage. Nothing is worse than having a dream and feeling that nobody is behind you. I know some families out there aren't the most encouraging.

Blessings, Will

A dream in my heart..........

Dream #1, has always been to design my own camp. Christian camp. I used to take Architecture, so I would love to design the main hall, and all the cabins, as well as the whole layout of the site. I actually have preliminary drawings of a site, with a lake, and where each area is designated to. Cabins, tuck shop, boat house, fire pits, archery, stables for horse back riding, field for football, baseball, etc. And of course the main buildings which house many many rooms for lodging, a conference centre style room, kitchen/dining-mess hall, workers quarters, etc. And then there would be another building, the chapel/church, with multiple rooms for multiple events.

This would be like a retreat/Conference centre. During the non-camp season or when available, we could book weddings and receptions up there, conferences, and other special events.

I even have the name of the Camp.... (top secret though :x: :) )

I have always been huge into hospitality and dreaming of a place where people can come and get away from it all for a while - and get back to nature - to hear from God without the distraction of the city life.

Dream #2, would be to have an obscene amount of money. I would have enough to live on, but I would follow people around and listen for needs. I would pay for stuff or leave them random envelopes with a gift inside. I would fly to countries that need assistance, like in Africa (I don't remember which country) but it only costs $5000 for a village to get their own well for cleaner drinking water. I would go to and fro not only sending the $$ needed to help with a project - but I would go there myself to help as well.

That's all the dreams I have time to write down right now.

Willow,

This is perhaps the most interesting topic I feel I have found posted here on Worthy Boards. Are our dreams truly ones brought by God? Are such dreams his will? Those are some good questions.

My heart's dream since I was thirteen years of age was to become a writer of fantasy books. Such as those which contained knights, dragons, and the like. I have written nearly four of them.

Once again awesome post!

With Love In Christ,

Danielle

dreams!! oh dreams! All I seem to do is dream! My parents tell me I dream to big, that it'll never happen. Well I don't care! If God want me doing something, I shall be! No stopping me!!! Money isn't an obstacle! God will provide! I have so many. I guess I will start with my favorite.

1. Living in a remote village in Africa, having my own clinic, healing women and children!! Teaching them how to dance before their God using sign language and mime! Teaching Vacation Bible Schools. In a hut, with the bare neccessities, helping others to know Jesus Christ, showing them His love through me, and by helping.

2. A photographer for national geographic treavelling the world, capturing God's beauty and splendor, and the hardships faced and the destruction of sin. Being different than any one photographer before.

3. Being a journalist, shooting my own photos, printing my own magazine, having testimonies and pictures and verses and all kinds of things included on the inside.

4. A short term missionary. to Equador , Bolivia, Kenya, Uganda, Sierre Leonne, Costa Rico. Spreading the gospel. Spreading joy and life. Building houses, teaching people how to utilize appropriate technology, helping people period.

5. Becoming a sign language interpretor. signing at things such as Jubilee, Thirday Concerts, ect. Going on mission trips with a deaf organizations, reaching the deaf of this world.

My dream over all is to help people.

I have often dreamed of going on a mission trip to West Africa and having the resources to feed the hungry and share the gospel; take Bibles in Chineese to China; speak to someone to get out of a wheel chair or rise and walk in the name of Jesus and see it happen; see revival fire fall in an entire nursing home with everyone getting saved and healed........help someone in Ecuador....teach the children.

second to all that...write a book and have it published.

Above all...be available to the Lord as my heart cries...Lord, here am I!

Willow, you're hitting on a thought that I've been dealing with for a little while. I'm not going to come right out with my dream, but there is something that is in my mind that I've asked God to remove if it's not something that is going to come to pass. In my own strength, this is something I would not be able to obtain. It's a very weird oddity, but the feeling and dream are not gone. If indeed this is where God is leading me, I can certainly His hand at work in the way He has led me since turning my life back to Him three years ago.

Hippo, girl you just keep dreamin'! Would you rather dream big and get a partial fulfillment or dream little and miss out on more? Dream big!

the Lord has given each of dreams and visions. I think that perhaps the saddest thing in American christianity is that we don't dream big enough....or we think that "we" have anything to do with fulfilling these dreams.

I have such a huge dream that you would all KNOW that I'm crazy if I told you....but I have been seeing this dream come true for the last 2 years.

Well...not completely there yet but huge confirmations that this is where it's heading...

It's absolutely impossible in human terms.....Yet happening.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
