If you were able to travel around America, you would discover some pretty bizarre accents.

Bostonians are known for dropping their "r"s (Pa'k the ca' in the pa'king lot.)

Texans are known for adding "r"s (Warsh the car.)

Baltimorians condense words. ("Bal-ti-more" become "Bal'mer".)

Etc., etc., etc.

So yeah, Southerners have their own accent. And the more "hick" the person, the heavier the accent is.

I think it comes from the Irish and Scottish roots of the original settlers.

I think one of the rules is:

The Baltimorean accent tries to turn a three syllable word into a one (or two) syllable word.

The Texan accent tries to turn a one syllable word into a three (or two) syllable word.
