Immunization

This is never an easy topic -that's why extensive research is needed,both for, and against as to avoid any biases!When our 2nd got the shots the dr administering them actually admitted to us that there were times that they received vaccines that were expired!Everytime he brought it up to his superiors they basically told him to be quiet!He told us he would not even give his chilren immunizations at this particular military hospital!I didn't think too much of it,and was just doing what I thought I HAD to do!Also many ppl fear that if your children aren't vax''d that they would be a health risk,but in actuality even vax'd children still come down w/ whooping cough,measles etc!There are twice as many shots needed for kids now compared to in the 70's where we only required 6 or so shots!Also boosters are recommended,but how many ppl actually get boosters once they are out of school,and some are required every ten yrs!

Good post ^^^ and BTW I don't think any child wants to go through all the pain of all those shots.........I know that I wouldn't want my child to have to go through it.....when they are old enough to chose then they can decide if they want the vaccinations.

There is also the other side to the story - our young ones can also suffer if they

aren't immunized. The strains of the childhood diseases are more likely to be much more serious than when my children were immunized. However it is the parents' decision about their children and what they feel is best for them

I think the post about allowing the children to choose to be immunized once they are old enough to choose, is hog-wash. Do we not take them to church before they can choose for themselves, simply because it's good for them? Do we not insist that they eat vegetables and fruit, even when they havent' chosen that for themselves? Do we not put them to bed at night before they would choose it for themselves? I'm not for or against immunization, each to their own on this one, I figure. However, I really dont' agree that we leave the decision until they can make it for themselves. You wouldn't let them start brushing their teeth when they are old enough to choose that for themselves.

Um...

1- I think it hurts a lot less than smallpox.

2- That wouldn't work. These vaccinations need to be done in the first few years of life, long before a child is able to understand it or make his own choice. Most of them are useless after age 4, I think. It would be as effective as injecting water into your veins.

Also, some of them are for diseases that primarily strike during childhood.

This is not a viable option.

sound like i am exagerating? well, maybe a bit, but listen to the comercials.... listen to the side effects..... when you get a script from the pharm. do you ever read the side effects???

 

I got checked out for Tenitis ( ringing of the ears... ) doc gave me a script that he said should help some..... three days later I am doubled over at work, felt like some one had just run me thru with a double bladed sword, and then twisted it... ( no joke, I thought I was dying.... ) called the doc to find out what to do, and never got a single call back, called three times....... ( by the way, I threw the meds in the stool and flushed them..... ) and that side effect was not even listed as a possible problem..... sheeeeeesh....... I read the info sheet that came with them....

 

i personally, believe that the reason that there is these so called laws for the vaccines, is that some one in government is getting kick backs from the drug companies..... that is my personal opinion...

It was also provenf (actually always) every year the last 77 years by and for doctors "in the know"......  look it up later,  not here - too much opposition to reality......

with the size and sharpness of todays needles, shots don't really hurt that much.    My wife gives herself shots every two days and I do allergy shots once a week.    I have noticed that it hurts less when I give myself shots rather than the nurses.  It helps a lot if you prepare your kids mentally for getting shots for those that are inner muscle hurt much less if you can relax the muscles before and during the procedure.    And yes you can get that across to kids.

Giving shots is easy once you get over the queasiness of it. Sometimes people practice on oranges. But some have a needle phobia. That is very hard to get over. Those are the ones you want to be lying down when they get pocked.

Doctors won't let you now, but I gave myself allergy shots for about ten years....   I do remember the very first one....  took me two hours to get the needle to go in....    I guess I got over my phobia that day.

Oh ok. Since I worked in the medical field there was always some one around to give us a shot. As long as we brought our own stuff. I was in the ER a few months ago. They asked for permission for a student to put in my IV. You should have seen my arm when they were done . Now that is someone who is not afraid of needles.
