All that comes to mind with me is that they are the two greatest prophets of the Old Testament and will likely, maybe, be the two witnesses of the Tribulation period. Thus, they were the two to appear in the transfiguration, symbolizing what is to come in the last days, i.e., the Great Tribulation.

I think it's becaues they represent the triune God, in a sense. Moses represents the law, Elijah represents the prophets.

Hi Ayin Jade.

Elijah did not die so I think he is one of those two witnesses to come at the end but I don't think Moses will be. The other must be, I think, Enoch who did not die either.

Maybe it has to do with Moses and Elijah as great leaders being introduced to some more great leaders to be, Peter and company.

An interesting topic, I shall keep my eye on it.

Yes, Moses cant be one of the two witnesses, since it is appointed to man to die but once....and Moses died already. (which actually brings to mind another question......is it necessary for the two witnesses to be Elijah and Enoch? cant they be new people?)

Law and Prophets, that is an interesting comment. Jesus did say the Law and the Prophets hung on loving your Lord and your neighbor.

Hello Ayin Jade.

It's speculation really but fun.

I don't know if it has to be but it goes along with what you said, 'it is appointed to man to die but once'.

These two have not died. Another problem comes from knowing that not all men will die. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thess 4:15-17.

They are to be sent to the people of Israel, Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified, Rev 11:3. The bible says that Elijah is to come at the end. Before that dreadful day of the Lord, Mal 4:5. This must be judgement day.

Since Jesus was heralded in the first time by John then the same must go for the end. John's dead Elijah's not.

The scene I think is that these two will be the ones that graft the natural branch back onto the tree. Rom 11:13-21.

But I am venturing into Revelation and I don't want to go there!

Also Enoch said, "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him." Jude 1:14-15.

I don't know how relevant this is.

All the best. I hope you gather a lot of responses. Who knows we might come out at the end with more than we started with. (Lurking 'a'?)

Hi Ayin Jade! I too have often wondered about the 2 witnessess. Could it be that they are two groups of peoples instead of just two individuals? The reason I ask this is because in Rev 11:7 says that the beast "will make war against them".

I guess I dont see making war against 2 persons, but against 2 people groups perhaps? I wonder if the 2 witnessess are like unto Moses(representing Torah, Gods word in old testament) and also like Elijah(representing or like unto John the Baptist, who prepared the way of the Lord Yeshua)?

I see these 2 groups of peoples(Judeo-Christian) as being the 2 witnesses now on this earth about who God and Jesus are. We as Christians do get our heritage so to speak from the Jews. Salvation is from the Jews like Yeshua said.

I think the term that they are "clothed in sackcloth" means they are calling people to repentance. This could refer to the jewish peoples who now know that Yeshua is their messiah and they are now prophecying it.

Rev 11:2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. (Heathens) And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

While this is happening, I believe this is when the jewish believers start to evangilize the people in the holy city which is a threat to the anti-christ.

These are my opinions based on how i read it. Could be wrong. What do you think?

be blessed

why not those two????

were they not loyal to God?

were they not friends with God, like we all should be?

i would have liked to have been a fly on the wall ( so to speak )... or even in the shoes of the apostles....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
