The word socialism is used a lot on this board; maybe it would help clear things if its proponents define or explain what they mean when they say they are socialist. It may turn out they mean something else.

Good point jcm I'll be back with that tomorrow...as for the Catholic encycopedia, I don't expect you to know this, but there are very definitely different interpretations of the compatibility of socialism and Christianity within the Church. I've used that site before, and it's pretty traditionalist. If you want to know about the "socialist minority" of Christians, look up the Catholic Worker movement and Dorothy Day (not on this site because, again, it's conservatist schtuff). DD is my hero and she may be up for sainthood which, incidentally, is the last thing she wanted. Anyway, she was a socialist, and many of the modern Workers (who are the coolest people EVER, they live in voluntary poverty) are as well.

Be back lata.

GBG,

Don't assume that I don't know... I am well aware, I do not agree with you/them and I think your/their ideology is flawed, scripture has been twisted and taken out of context for their own devices/purposes. God is powerful, He has no need for any political movement or 'ism'. I had participated on a predominatley Catholic board for over a year, and I know that 98% of them would disagree with you. The ideology is not approved or sanctioned by the Catholic church as the article I posted states.

From your blog

Next time, the more interesting challenge...George lyrics. P.S. everyone should go to Worthyboards to see me duke it out with the Protestants! ***DISCLAIMER***(edited 8/23) that last was not meant to offend, Boy pointed out that it seems ignorant without context - there are many cool Protestants, just like there are many cool Catholics, Muslims, Wiccans...and Atheists =D Caitlin D gets the joke, though......

All your 'joking' aside, I think this shows that your intentions are just to argue and 'stir the pot' as they say. Nothing productive can from this. I wish you well and will be praying for you.

I am sorry you regard us in that light GBG. Seek the Lord first, not duking it out with Protestants. That will serve you best in the long run.

i'm sorry you regard us in that light too, georges. in fact, having just read your blog, and the language you use, i'm rather surprised you dared link to your homepage in your profile... it certainly exposes you in a very unflattering light! i guess it's "kewl" to use a lot of profanity and disrespect when you are young. and it seems you know very well how to play the good little catholic girl when it suits your needs... but the gig's up now, isn't it?

First of all, that's my blog and, while I'm well aware that I listed it on this site, you also don't have the context for that statement. One of my good friends is a Protestant, and another is a Catholic, and we hang out together a lot...there's nothing hurtful about the way I meant that statement, it's a joke between friends. My Catholic friend and I will tell my Protestant friend that she's strayed from the truth, silly fool (KIDDING) and she tells us that we're going to Hell because we are evil and backwards (also KIDDING). It's really a takeoff of all the Protestant/Catholic anger in the world, since we're not angry or prejudiced at all about each other. Incidentally, these are the two people who mostly read my journal, so the joke was for them. Sorry that you didn't have context for that remark. You should know that I have great respect for the people who I have met on this board.

Plus the "I don't expect you to know" wasn't supposed to sound condescending or anything. It's just that it's not really mainstream Catholicism and most non-Catholics I know have never heard of the Worker movement.

Sorry if I offended, hope the above makes sense.

Peace.

No "gig" is up. I use profanity because my blog is mostly stream-of-consciousness. I wasn't thinking twice about linking it here because I usually link it to profiles and I didn't want to "hide" it, although in retrospect I maybe should have taken it off. I never said I didn't curse, I use respectful language when speaking here and among others. The blog is for me, mostly, though.

In addition, while I'm responding to everything, I am indeed here to "stir the pot" because we ALL should stir the pot! "The unexamined life is not worth living" said Thoreau, and how strong in our faith can we be if we never challenge it? I have become more faithful in God over the years discussing spiritual issues with those who don't agree with me than I could have ever imagined. As far as "duking it out," perhaps you don't understand what I mean by that, which is good ol' healthy debate. One of my best friends is an ardent conservative, and we "duke it out" over our issues all the time, but I still love her and respect her! I have shown nothing but respect for the people of these boards. I came to ask questions with the hope that people would dialogue with me about faith issues, since there seems to be such division within the Christian world and dialogue can help to remedy this. So don't assume that you know me, don't judge me based on what you THINK I think. I'm sorry if you thought that I was being too antagonistic, but I am genuinely curious and I like to see where people are coming from, and I love a good debate!

Peace and love be with you all.

You quote a lot of people, but not the bible. You have stated you dont believe it is the word of God. You want to challenge ideas. It seems to me you put intellectual pursuits ahead of the pursuit of the Lord.

Ok, I have a challenge for you: Read the bible, and compare it to your beliefs. Pray as you read it, that the Lord opens your eyes to His truths.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be revealed to you.

Yeah you should do as she says, because you are telling us what we say is a lie and what we say Jesus already said.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
