Wow, we got to a week before easter before we had the 'egg' debate. I'm having an easter egg hunt with my 2 year old, she will love it. So sue me. She gets Jesus 365 days a year, one day of foil wrapped chocolate fun isn't going to steer her away from the constant influence of the gospel in my home.

Well that would be between you and God. Doesn't bother me if you let your kids do pagan things.... i really don't know the depths of the mind of God so i really don't know if it offends Him or not. I'll let you know if He should tap me on the sholder and enlighten me on the subject.

If I were teaching her about a pagan fertility goddess, there would be a problem. But I'm not. Easter has now been divorced from that initial impetus. Now it's just foil wrapped eggs, nothing more. There really isn't anything pagan about it; I eat foil wrapped chocolate all year round (which, evidently, is why I am so round ).

Round..... does that make us spheres???

Hey - I didn't post this to get into an "Easter" debate. I posted this for the laughter of the issue.

Can we please keep it that way?

But Neb, I haven't seen an easter debate this year.......... are you going to stop the annual tradition???? :taped:

Sorry Neb I wasn't trying to start anything just commenting on something and answering something. I very very seldom ever get into debates on easter, christmas or any of the hundreds of other things that get beat to death.

shabbat shalom,

Mizz

Bit late but felt I had to say this. I personally feel we should do away with easter eggs all together. No one knows what a chicken is thinking. How can we? But on the off chance that just one chicken might feel offended with such use of an egg, we should abolish this practice all together. Just in case. :)

A third grade teacher in Seattle, Wash., has renamed Easter eggs to make them less offensive, according to a student volunteer at her school.

In a phone interview with Seattle's KIRO Radio, 16-year-old Jessica said she was stunned after being told by the teacher to call the plastic Easter eggs she gave to students "spring spheres."

Jessica declined to give her full name or name the school and teacher in question.

"At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that," she recalled.

Full report

:35: Someone tell that teacher what the word "Easter" actually means and where it comes from!

where do they come up with these ideas?
