Should Christians participate in Hallowe'en

If there's one thing I know about God, it's that He redeems. He takes what the locusts have eaten and He restores. His whole identity encompasses making what is old, new. Making what is dead, alive. Making what is evil, good. Therefore, it matters very little to me how "bad" or "evil" something may appear. God looks at the heart. Whether Halloween has satanic origins or not, it doesn't matter. God can use anything for His purpose and for His glory (see Genesis 50:20).

Some may feel conviction not to participate, others may not. We must each follow the Holy Spirit's lead. But in our personal pursuit to follow God we need to be careful not to draw boundaries for everyone else.

I'm going to repeat myself because somewhere in this thread a few ppl got the impression that I was open to criticism, condemnation, or that it was okay to talk down to me. For the record, I'm not unsure about where I stand on this issue. I know my heart, God knows my heart and He's the only one I desire to please.

Are we so blind to see that we're arguing over what meat we can eat. People, do you not understand that it is the person of WEAKER FAITH that says we cannot eat meat sacrificed to idols. Likewise, a person who says simply trick or treating on Halloween day somehow brings glory to Satan is denying the Power of God and saying that a simple action with no evil intent is bringing glory the devil. The only time the devil gains glory is when we disobey God or go against His Will. So, you're hard pressed to prove that God's Will is for us not to trick or treat.

Also, why don't you stop it with the condescending attitudes. Just because someone is 15 doesn't mean they're naive. If you really wanted to, I could act the exact same way towards all of you, because honestly, your belief is made out of ignorance.

This is actually starting to be rather comical. We've moved from disussing the evilness of Halloween, to ppl saying you shouldn't celebrate Easter or Christmas..and now we're slamming the Beatles too!

The peace J. Lennon refered to was not the peace of God that passes understanding, nor was he refering to the fruit of the Spirit. It is the false peace that comes with compromise and false doctrine. "You lay down what you believe and hold dear and I'll do the same." No way baby!!!!!!!

If one can do haloween in such a way as to lift up the name of Jesus by all means go trick or treat. The same goes for all the things of this world. God has not called us out of the world yet, He has called us to be in the world but not to partake of their idol worship, and we can worship God regardless of where we are. One idea would be to have the kids exchange a tract for the candy. Be creative, and spread the good news all the time.
