You are certainly entitled to your opinion, Larry, as I am to mine. I do hope you apply that standard in every single area of your life. BTW - I would like to know what names you use for our days of the week, since the names we have are of pagan roots? You know - "Monday" is for the moongod, Thursday for "Thor" etc. And what names do you use for the names of the months? I'm interested in the alternatives for Christians. Oh, and do you wear a necktie? And, when your wife buys a present for a new baby, she doesn't buy something in pink or blue to match the sex of the child does she? Thanks.

Everything I can reasonably remove from my life I have and as thing are brought to my attention they will be removed. There are things that are not possible to eliminate. I must communicate to people like you. If I refer to a day of the week then it is expedient to use the common term in order to communicate. But when it comes to "celebrating a day" that has CLEAR pagan roots. NO WAY. I don't "celebrate" Monday(moon's day) when I use the term. I don't honor the devil by refering to his reality. There is clear instruction in scripture though not to "participate" in the pagan worship customes. And just because some put a "christain" name on it doesn't make it alright. Those that continue to rationalize their sin will reap the consequenses.

Ga 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Every demon, witch and warlock are out on that night doing evil. More so than any other night.

Well, we'd better get out there and fight.

A local church here does a safety patrol which made it into the newspapers last year. The community appreciates it and I'm sure they're praying the whole time they're patrolling.

Cats had a great idea last year. Carving a cross into the pumpkin. She plays Christian music and hands out kiddie Christian tracts with the candy. I'll be following her lead this year since I'll be home.

We have to be a light!

My thought on Halloween is that it matters not how or if you celebrate. It is what is in your heart. God knows us by our hearts, not by what other people think of us or what we do. :il:

God bless!

Larry, wasn't it you who accused me of "rationalizing"? wink.gif

We rationalize when we do not

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rationalizing -- taking our desires & actions and finding support for them that contradicts other well established principles of scripture.

1Th 5:22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

If I am rightly dividing the Word I will conform my life to the Word. If I am rationalizing I will conform the word to my life.

Work in Progress :noidea:

For years I acted like stick in the mud about Halloween for the same reasons some of you are against it. Thankfully my wife wouldn't go along with my extremism and let me ruin it totally for our kids.

This year I'm excited about Halloween and I'm ready to decorate and enjoy it like I did when I was a youngster. I'm loading up on candy to pass out to the little goblins this year instead of retreating to the den mumbling under my breath about the "sin" of it all.

I read a book recently about pagan Rome and they alone had over 30,000 pagan gods. With only 365 days of the year you can bet each and every one was dedicated to some "god". That's just Rome there were many other ancient societies beside them that also had thousands of pagan gods. satan made sure to try and cover every aspect of human life and celebration early on I think.

EVERYDAY belongs to the Lord, not a pagan god.

BTW - Halloween is not the "holiest" day for satanists....it's Dec. 25th and not because that one has some pagan connection; it's because masses of Christians the world over celebrate Christ's birth on that day and satanists hate Christ so they try to do the "opposite" of celebrating his birth by doing whatever it is they do, on that day.

I have looked into this very closely because our eldest wanted to know why christians don't go trick or treating and found terrible reasons why I will not acknowledge the day at all. I could not believe the things I found out and especially things that the FBI are watching specific cults for leading up to Halloween that involve children and babies born specifically for Halloween that are too horrific to mention on an open board.

People do horrific things on this day that us as unsuspecting "normal" folk have no idea about and they are not myths but real events. Did anyone here know there is a purpose to the riding a broom thing ........... and it aint to fly! I had no idea. And as for spells there are things we know nothing about in the supernatural world.

NO CHRISTANS SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE!!!!!

You are so right. Every demon, witch and warlock are out on that night doing evil. More so than any other night. I know, I have spoken to former witches.....it is nothing to do with a fun night of getting candy it is a spiritual battle that is taking place. We are to be in this world and not of it. :noidea:

Wise words sis. When I have children there will be no halloween or fall festival for that matter.

My husband and I do not celebrate halloween. Most of our "holidays" root from pagan traditions. I think Halloween is the worst. I don't care for most holidays anyways. We do Christmas, and thanksgiving, but we don't get carried away, and focus on the Christian aspects of those holidays.

Not to hijack the thread here but my hubby and I haven't had children yet but we are already thinking about teaching our children about Santa Claus. I don't really want to. People get too wrapped up in the wrong thing and the true meaning of Christmas is lost. Alot like Easter. I work with a girl who is raising her son not to believe in the Easter bunny or Santa. He has a firm grip on what the holidays are about for a child his age, unlike most children. I tend to think that there will be no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny at my house. Just a celebration of the Savior's birth, death and resurrection!

(Note: I'm not condeming those who do the easter bunny, Santa thing so nobody jump on that!) :hmmm:

I wonder if wiccans refuse to celebrate the secular version of Christmas because the holiday has it's roots in Christianity? Or if they refuse to leave a present from the Easter Bunny for their kids? Now I'm curious. It's kind of an interesting thought.

Many of the holidays we celebrate today have "secularized" versions created of them. I'm not entirely sure why, perhaps to give an alternative to those who don't believe in the roots of the purpose of the celebration?

I personally, do not celebrate Halloween because of it's roots. However, I was brought up wearing costumes and trick or treating. I don't remember any harm being done, because my parents taught me well.

May I ask this? Is there harm being done in celebrating the secularized version of Halloween? (i.e.: carving pumpkins, dressing up, getting candy, bobbing for apples)

If there is, I think it's best not to celebrate the holiday. But otherwise....??

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
