My husband and I attended a social gathering of one of my ladies' groups this past weekend. It was mostly couples and two single ladies. The two single ladies were wearing very low cut blouses, knowing that husbands would be at this function. One of these ladies is a Christian.

My husband is a sex addict, sober now for almost three years. For him, the view was as much temptation as for the alcoholic having a bottle of booze rubbed under his nose. He is trying so hard to stay sober, and was so uncomfortable, we had to leave early.

I share his frustration, and yours, that Christian women would dress this way. It is hard not to be judgmental. :D

This strikes me as a very interesting topic. As long as I lived under my parents' roof, I was never allowed to wear a bikini. When I finally got one, I found myself self-conscious and then proud. I think wearing something revealing causes a woman to flaunt herself in response. Showing one's tummy feels nice in hot weather, but belly buttons tend to draw attention.

The Victorian age may not have had women's rights down, but I think they understood modesty. I don't think we women fully understand what the sight of female skin can do to a guy. Our entire bodies are built in such a way that guys are turned on by the softness and the curves. We're walking weapons and don't even know it. Or we do know... but we don't care. Why should the other women look "attractive" and garner attention when we don't because our breasts aren't hanging out? Doesn't that way of thinking seem a little odd for a Christian woman to be entertaining? Yet I know I have. This thread has forced me to stop and think. I do have clothing that goes against my idea of modesty. So do I keep them for my husband in private, or just go on about my business as usual?

We are responsible for not allowing ourselves to be stumbling blocks. We aren't responsible for a man's lust, but we ARE responsible to do our utmost not to fan his flames.

That's just so foreign to me I can hardly beleive it. I mean, Christian women at a church function? Never seen that. Thank goodness.

In the church we were in about 5 woman had gotten breast implants and as a result they had to wear their clothing tight in order to show off their new curves. Great example there, huh?

Yes, I agree that prayer for them is the best idea.

How did you know that the 5 women got implants?

They didnt mind letting people know. One of the ladies would show other woman in the restroom, so i heard :D

Honey, just pray for them. We're in desperate need to pray and pray hard. Satan is the enemy and he uses us.

We need to feel pity and compassion for other's now more than we ever did before.

You and I and others here will probably be safe and sound in our heavenly abode in glory with the Savior.

So, so many souls are swimming in chaos, sin and confusion. They're in churches but not regenerated; searching but not found.

Please, pray for those who attend church. Church is a hospital for the sick as well as a respite for the well.

Oh Sister Cats,

I know, I once was lost too! And also dressed immodestly. But what compels me the most, is that no one cared enough about me to tell me the Truth..........not even my parents knew that it was OK to say "NO!" to something I might choose to wear, and then explain the specifics of "Why"? Moms, Dads, it's ok to explain specifics about lust and desire to your daughters and sons, and when you tell them that what they are doing/wearing has a bearing on others thoughts, they are self-conscious, as they should be. Our youth have lost the teaching the consciousness of "shame". We have none.

Cats, I had a lady in my SS class, she and her live in came and heard "Truth"! About living together, about drugs, sex, alcohol, etc..........do you know what? They were appreciative towards us, because we loved them enough to speak openly and honestly to them, and share with them, and love them as family.........rather than chatter behind their backs, as many will do. WE LOVED THEM!!!! We invited them to our homes for Bible Studies, and we spoke to them just as we would have someone who had been in our class for years, it didn't matter, and they knew it and felt it, because............we spoke the Truth in love. It's kinda like somebody walking around with toilet paper hanging out of the back of their pants :D Do you let them go on, cause you don't want to feel the discomfort of telling them? Or do you save them embarrassment, because you CARE? Let's love and care about each other, just as we would family.

Have you seen appropriate beach attire from the 1920's? Appropriate clearly changes with the times. so if you were dressed on the beach today in a suit from the 1920's you WOULD be innappropriate and drawing attention to yourself.

I just feel that it's not up to me to convict Steve's wife on this.

You may think I am crazy, but I think it would be fabulous fun to wear those old 1920's bathing suits with the little skirt. And the men in suits like long underwear. I cannot really figure out why we have to bare everything to swim. Those little bikinis that the young ones wear, for me, they might just as well have nothing on. I am not against anything. I really just wanted to say I'd love to wear things from the 1920's. :D

Do you mean that all five told you personally?

One of the ladies would show other woman in the restroom, so i heard

I would pay no attention to this if it were me. I wouldn't even want to hear about it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
