Let's be brave and have an actual dialogue...oh, not just with me,

but everyone else who disagrees that Osteen is called of God to preach a popular, but very watered down, gospel.

A watered down Gospel is no Gospel at all. It is a pale shadow of the truth, the result of a dim light source, and produces pale shadows that vanish in the bright light of truth.

Spiritual rain is a deluge, not a mist, and the Cross casts a dark shadow that should strike at our hearts.

That's what I get for trying to be political.....:laugh:

Not to be a difficult person, but I do want to add something.......

Sometimes a Holy Spirit mist is just the right thing...but I'm sure you know that ...watered down is not good at all

Joel Osteen is not a false teacher. I know of the disappointment when he engages in the public arena, and that is unfortunate. But what we see on his telecasts are his speaking to his congregation after a week of them meeting together in small groups, and participating in prayer and worship throughout the week and getting their meat there. What people are seeing as unbalanced just isn't so. What we see in his televised messages is his encouraging the Body of Christ, a celebration of Jesus Christ and who we are in Christ. This is how a lot of cell churches are.

The few times I have caught his program, I have never heard one word of error.

Those who know Jesus don't need the gospel preached as a regular diet. When we come together to celebrate Jesus, we feast on encouragement. It's DESSERT---for THEM. I think this is what people are complaining about, but as we are not members of Joel's particular flock, we have no reason to complain about the food he gives his flock. We are to be concerned with what our own shepherds are teaching us. Muttering about others' shepherds is simply the sin of gossip. Listening to it and repeating it is also.

Osteen is feeding millions on TV. And people send him money without warming a seat in his auditorium.

He has a huge TV flock. ANYONE can watch him. THEREFORE, anyone can decide for themself whether or not he is true or false. Just add Biblical truth and mix.

It is not gossip and it is not a sin to point out error that is being taught to soooo many. Many of whom may believe themself to be saved, yet they do not LIVE for

Christ and do not have a relationship with the Living Son of God but instead just have pablum, watered down at that, spoon fed to them and mixed with Osteens

particularly unsavory over sweet recipe for his personal success.

The Bereans wer commended for searching the scriptures and they were being fed the truth.

And remember, this is not aimed personally. THIS is about Osteen, so if you answer, kindly refrain from using personal pronouns or attacks. Thanks

He has not spoken any error that I have ever heard when he is speaking to his congregation. Maybe you should watch him.

Well now, if I did not know anything about him, if I had never watched his show, if I had never seen or read an interview given by him or never read anything

he had written, I would not be posting here. I would go and find out so that I would know what I'm writing about.

There are a few people posting in this thread that agree with you. I am not one of them.

With regards to what you posted concerning your belief that speaking about a person who is on TV and watched by millions is gossip, I must also disagree,

as an individual who is in the public eye and claiming to preach the gospel MUST be scrutinized according to the Bible. If we, as believers do not make

sure that what we are taught is scriptural, then we cannot actually know that the person we say is not in error IS speaking what is true.

To tell me 'maybe I should watch him'...is IMO, borderline sarcastic. Please don't go there. Let's be brave and have an actual dialogue...oh, not just with me,

but everyone else who disagrees that Osteen is called of God to preach a popular, but very watered down, gospel.

Your responsibility, as is all our responsibility, if you are concerned, is to turn off the TV and pray for him, and even write a letter---not gossip and bad mouth the man and his ministry. He is a brother whether you like it or not. There is a whole lot of heresy on TV. I don't stand in judgment over them and decry their ministries in the public square---or in Christian forums. I just disregard them and heed my own leaders that God has placed into my life personally. I owe them my ear, and my prayer and my support.

It sure is not sarcastic to invite you to watch something you have yet to see in order to make an educated opinion. It is wise advice. It's rather silly to opine without ever seeing what you are talking about. If you have not watched him, then you are listening to gossip, and adding to it.

I don't think he is a brother. Which is my point. F A L S E G O S P E L

People need to be warned about him.

I do however think you ARE my sister in Christ...but I seriously disagree with your post...I think Osteen is harming many and will absolutely be held accountable

You may disregard what you consider false, but those who are young in the Lord or lack teaching or perfer being spoon fed are not going to do that.

I can assure you Osteen gets many letters that tell him in no uncertain terms that he is not preaching the gospel. But, oh you know, it feels so good...

the gospel is not about feelings anymore than pointing out false teaching is gossip

It is NOT gossip. We are to judge righteously....it is not true that we are not to judge at all.

You may have missed certain points in my posts in this thread. I have stated a good number of times I am educated as to Osteen's teaching.

AS you have appeared to miss that fact a number of times, I am concerned you may have also missed the fact that false teachers are to be exposed

and not ignored.

Well, reading some more articles even the gay people are bashing Joel because he said being gay is sin.......... Oh my...... wow....... I can't find a thing the man says wrong about God. From what I can tell, people are mad at what he does not say......... How does that even work? Who has the right to tell someone What to preach?

It's good to see all this opposition against him though, tells me the devil and his crowed are mad...... Just like the devil tried to get Paul over and over........

I think what the unlearned fail to realize is that you can't preach in Error against God and stay around long. It just don't work that way.

I can name several that have died early, or the whole ministry comes crashing down. God is a lot more patience than us, but Judgement always comes to those that lead people in error.......

.........

When it comes to sin — something Osteen clearly believes in but rarely discusses in his sermons — the faith leader is often targeted for not addressing the issue upfront and regularly. On Sunday evening, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Osteen on her new program, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” where he delved deeply into his views on homosexuality and sin.

“Will a gay person be accepted into heaven, as you see it?,” Oprah asked the famed pastor. “I believe they will,” he responded. ”Sometimes we look at gay being a bigger sin than being proud or not telling the truth. I don’t think God categorizes sins.”

error has been around since the garden of eden only God calls it SIN AND REBELLION

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/pastor-joel-osteen-to-oprah-homosexuality-is-sin-but-gay-people-will-be-accepted-into-heaven/

Homosexuality is sin, but God will allow it in heaven...you go Joel! Keep smiling....

FACTS...PEOPLE...FACTS....God is HOLY...no sin in heaven.....Joel is NOT saved if he believes that....no conviction of the Holy Spirit

Did he say sinners are in heaven? A homosexual who has found Christ and is healed of his perversion is a citizen of heaven---even if he, like the unwise world does, retains his 'gay' label (yet shouldn't). Judging that Joel Osteen isn't saved based on such a flimsy judgment is ...well....judgment at its worst.

Joel has not done well in the public square when confronted, especially when he knows what the hot topics are he is going to be asked about. That is an evident weakness, and I wish he would step back from such engagements. However, as to his messages, he doesn't purvey error. What we see on TV is the culmination of a week of church life in a celebratory address to his congregation. His giftng is in the encouragement of who? The Body of Christ! People have fed on spiritual meat during the week and come together for dessert. It's the dessert that rankles people who do not understand how some cell churches operate.

I don't think he is a brother. Which is my point. F A L S E G O S P E L

He preaches the same gospel you do. This makes me chuckle a bit. How many people here call each other brother and sister and yet they really aren't?

The problem with Osteen is that he has his own belief system...his own gospel. It is not the truth and not biblical.

An individual who states what Osteen did to Oprah concerning sin, is NOT converted. Do you speak a lie by the power of the Holy Spirit?

He presents a false Jesus and a god who is not God.

No Joel, homosexuals will not be in heaven. People who have repented from that sin and turned to God and asked for forgiveness

and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and have lived for God will be in heaven.

"But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Rev. 21:8

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1:16

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders I Cor 6:9

No people, Joel is absolutely wrong about God allowing homosexuals into heaven. It is a sin. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

There is nothing funny or lighthearted about sin.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- Gal. 1:6

It is entirely possible to appear to serve the Lord and yet be preaching another gospel

Let those who have eyes to see, see and those who have ears to hear, hear

Blessed by the Name of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
