One of the 2nd most popular seasons is upon us. My question is this: Will you allow your children, or even yourselves, to participate in MAN'S Halloween tradition?

Or how about looking at it this way; Do you think God would condone such a practice, knowing that it's origin is something God said we should not do? Do you think He would be ok with it? Or better yet....what if Jesus return happened on Halloween? Would you be ashamed or proud of what you are doing? What do you think He would say no matter WHAT you or your children were dressed up as?

Well considering that Jesus hung out with, the outcast, the lonely, the Sinners, the prostitutes, the tax collectors, the Samaritan "dogs" and women caught in adultery, plus lepers, cheats, thieves, drunkards, idolaters, and murderers.

I would not be surprised if my little 8 year old daughterGod rest her Soul knocked on a door and found Jesus handing out candy.

But did Jesus DO any of those things?

Do you really believe Jesus would engage in acts that He had nations killed for doing?

Personally, I've never been real big on Halloween, but considering the state the world is in, I'd be pretty uncomfortable letting my 6-15 year-old visit strangers for candy.

Of coarse, I don't really have a child, nor a spouse for that matter, so what can I say?

I think that sometimes a man's questions, reveal, more about the man.... then long winded pages of his beliefs.

Historian Nicholas Rogers, exploring the origins of Halloween, notes that while "some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, whose original spelling was Samuin (pronounced sow-an or sow-in)". The name of the festival historically kept by the Gaels and Celts in the British Isles is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end".

According to the Oxford Dictionary of English folk lore: "Certainly Samhain was a time for festive gatherings, and medieval Irish texts and later Irish, Welsh, and Scottish folklore use it as a setting for supernatural encounters...."

Halloween imagery includes themes of death, evil, the occult, or mythical monsters....

What we have today has it's origins from the above. And God did NOT like the above things that the nations did. Dealing with the occult and witchcraft is something that God destroyed nations over as we can read below....

Deut.8

[19] And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

[20] As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

Deut.12

[28] Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

[29] When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

[30] Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

[31] Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

Deut.18

[9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

[11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

[13] Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

Josh.23

[3] And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you.

[5] And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.

[6] Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;

[7] That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:

[8] But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.

[9] For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.

If God destroyed nations in the past because of their dealings with witchcraft and the occult....do you really think that by dressing these old traditions up with candy and costumes the Lord is now ok with it? A rose is yet a rose no matter what you call it!

This is the first year EVER that we've had kids knock on our door for Halloween. We had two groups come through, in costume, and each group was chaperoned by parents who forced every kid to say thanks before they left. It was great to see such manners thumbsup.gif.

We had a gathering at church on saturday afternoon where adults dress up as people of the Bible and as the kids go down the line to get the treets, they get short bible stories. We had seven or eight hundred people show up.

We did halloween when the kids were little but nothing from the dark side...... we also had talks about what witches and demons are and not to take them lightly.

I don't observe Halloween, and never have, and have encouraged my children not to either,.....

And why is that if you do not mind answering?

Because I think it is stupid and an incredible waste of time. You have to march up and down streets with your kids while they shill for candy. I have no patience for that. And then, when you finally get home, they fight about how much they got, what they got, one got more than the other, etc. It is not worth the trouble. It is annoying, not evil. And my reason for not observing is not anymore valid than yours.

Whoe there....take it easy! Was just wondering there champ!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
