Wal Mart shoppers hurt by syringes hidden in clothing

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – At least two people were hurt after four syringes were found hidden in bras, kids pajamas and other items of clothing at a Walmart store in Georgia.

Courtney Worthington, 14, was jabbed by a syringe while she tried on some pajamas her mom bought from the Catersville Walmart store, WXIA-TV reported.

"I felt something stick me in the finger and I was like, 'What is that?'" she said. "That's just unbelievable -- whoever would think of doing that is, like, crazy."

A few days later, Patricia Headrick had to be tested for AIDS and hepatitis after she was stuck by a syringe while opening a packet of bras at the same store.

"Everything started going through my mind," Headrick said. "Whose arm was this in? Whose body? Was this a used needle? Am I going to die based on this being in someone's body? I've been on a roller coaster."

A syringe was also found in the pocket of some pants in the store, then another in a pair of socks.

Walmart said there were no reports of syringes being found in its other stores and promised to investigate.

"If any of our customers were harmed, we will gladly pay for any valid medical expenses," spokeswoman Dianna Gee said.

That wasnt an accident. That was a deliberate attempt to cause someone to suffer or die. Which means that the odds of it having HIV or hepatitis tainted blood in it is high. Its also another reason to avoid walmart.

I remember when syringes were found in Pepsi bottles. It cost the company a numerous amount of money in lost sales.

Until one day, video surveillance caught a woman placing a syringe in a bottle she had just opened and then took to the clerk behind the counter upset at having found a syringe in her drink.

I did not hear another report of syringes in Pepsi since then, nor did I hear about any arrests, including of the woman caught on camera.

I'm not sure why she should be tested for AIDS unless it was to ease her mind. The AIDS viris is very weak. If there was not fresh blood she is not at risk. The AIDS viris dies after about 30 seconds when exposed to the air. Don't know for sure about hepatitis. When you hear about people getting AIDS from needle sticks or dirty needles it's because they went from an AIDS person to a non AIDS person while the blood was fresh. BUT I still think this is a mean and sick thing to do.

I hope I'm right in this, but I doubt if these were dirty needle. Maybe some off-kilter kid or mean-hearted adult just put them around to scare (and prick) innocent customers. I'm not sure what the store can do about it, but customers need to exercise caution. And, let's not forget the Tylenol killers from a few decades ago. If I remember right, he/she was never caught.

Lol sorry butero. Im not a walmart fan. I have my own personal reasons for avoiding that place. I meant that comment as tongue in cheek. Since Im also not feeling my perky best this week, my sense of humor is also a bit off.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the this was the work of one of the individuals mentioned in the article and stuck themselves in an attempt to extort money from walmart. You can bet that each of the victims will be under investigation.

That thought didn't occur to me. I wonder if a person planted a bomb at a Wal-Mart and people were killed, if the victims would be able to sue Wal-Mart for damages, rather than the guilty party who planted the bomb? We have a crazy legals system.

In that I have personal experience. A family member was injured at a walmart due to the policies of walmart and a criminals actions. Walmarts response to this was sleazy at best. I wont go into details, but it is also why I will not shop at walmart. What they tried to do to my family member was unbelievable.
