I know you were trying to vent but it made me laugh. I totally understand what you are saying. My hubby and I went through some very difficult financial times and like your hubby, he is in to hunting. I can't remember how many days he would come home, having spent $20-$30 here and there on deer corn of all things. I used to tell my sisters that we couldn't afford to buy groceries for ourselves but my husband was out feeding the deer! Those were very frustrating days for me. The thing is though, in spite of all the "misspending" as I call it (my husband wouldn't agree), God always provided for us. We were always able to pay our bills and have enough food. This subsided over time so don't give up hope!

May God bless all of your hearts! Our relationships with our spouses are so very similar! I have to remind myself that if I took away or changed any part of my hubby that he wouldn't be the same man I fell in love with. Thank you for responding!

Thank goodness mine doesn't hunt. We live in Texas, too. Unfortunately, I get to listen to him rant about Texas' version of hunting... He doesn't think much of feeding deer corn to get them to come and get shot.

He does, however, like to buy "things". Books on an interesting topic. A camp stove. DVDs. Hobby items. Granted he doesn't do this behind my back, but it's hard for me to say no. He does get disappointed. Right now our money is getting tight because less money is coming in than before and I don't have a job yet.

We'll see where the Lord leads from here. *HUGS* to y'all.

Kat

Dear our3blessings,

This is just my opinion. You don't have to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

You might demand that your husband go hunt and kill something that you can cook and eat with those $50 hunting boots.

Just a thought.

Regards,

I WISH I could leave for a week and go deer hunting, or fishing, or anything for that matter, but in fact I probably get a good toungue lashing in spanish and a cast iron frying pan up side the head. Let me tell you, those frying pans hurt! My wife and I must be lucky, because neither of us spend money unless it is necessary. She has four credit cards and hasn't used any of them since March, and that was for auto repair. When she needs something, she is really good about finding bargains. If I need something, I get what is absolutely necessary. Sometimes being cheap is a good thing.

Actually the last time I was away for an extended peroid of time was 10 days and it was for an exercise my Air Force Reserve unit was involved in. :sam: :prayer

Just a side note....

I went and read the first post of the thread that George linked for us here. I agree with what was said in that post. And while I completely understand the frustration we feel when it comes to finances and spouses making "surprise" purchases, I have come to handle these situations much differently than I did when we were first married 8 years ago.

I used to freak out and yell "WHAT?!? We don't have $50.00 for 5 new CD's!!! What are you thinking??" He would get defensive and yell back, "Well, you just bought clothes!" and I would get defensive and yell back, "They were on sale for $5.00" and so on and so on. You can see that never got us anywhere productive. It is VERY hard not to fall into this!

Now, I will still voice my concerns in a gentler way, "Honey, why didn't you let me know you wanted to buy those CD's, I could have budgeted better so we would have more room to get those." his response, "oh....I'm sorry, I didn't think about it, do you need me to return them?" (usually how it goes something like that) See, that is much better. And honestly, if I need those returned to buy groceries, he will, but if I was counting on something maybe not as nessacary (like a new pair of shoes) then I will tell him not to worry about returning it. He also handles my extra spending (which I admittedly do occasionally) in the same manner rather than ranting and raving.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
