Now, I'm happily single for the moment, but even dating has changed drastically. I'm not male bashing or anything, but some men just aren't maning up imo. Is chivalry dead?

What happened to opening doors for a lady, paying for dates( which imo is worth meeting halfway) for if he's a good man.

Chivalry is not dead, please beleive that, it is very much alive (I am a man).

But, nowadays, some men are looking for someone to be their mother instead of their girlfriend/spouse.

When a man's manhood is not affirmed by his parents, especially from his father, he spends his life seeking his manhood, more often in corrupt ways than godly ways - which is why the drinking and porn addiction and whatnot are such strong hooks in men.
Underlined - That's me, except it was my mother who left me struggling to be accepted as a male and an adult, I had a "Mother dearest" mother (in ref. to Joan Crawford's daughter's book)

One of the problem with men today is that they were raised to be more like women. God designed men to be warriors, yet our society wants men to be "nice". (Just one of many expressions of the situation.)

Hi nebula, I agree there are good points for discussion taken from the book "Wild Heart". However I don't altogether agree with the thought that men are being raised up to be more like women. I think for the most part both christian and non-christian families do raise up their children according to their sex wheater it be boy or girl and do realize the difference between the two. I totally disagree with the idea that God designed men to be warriors. What is a warrior? First of all a warrior is basically someone who is a person of war who fights and kills. God didn't create men to be warriors. The author's thoughts were a stretch in saying christian men should be warriors. The attitude of a warrior is that they are constantly looking for a fight. I realize that christian men who are husbands and fathers are to be the protectors of their wives and children. In the book of Galatians 5 it speaks of and gives the fruits of the Spirit and one of those fruits given is "meekness". Meekness is having power under control though one has power they must also walk in christian humility not go around looking for a fight. It is God who wants christian men to be true "gentlemen" expressing the fruits of His Spirit.

Hey, I don't want to hijack the thread on technicalities of how one person or another defines a term. But to be a protector, one must have the ability to protect first.

But I agree with the claim society is feminizing men - we want men to act like women and women to act like men. Give women the reigns and make the man submissive. Men are expected to be relationship-oriented the way women are.Things like that.

Excellent point you raise, Neb, men are protectors and in ancient time hunter / gatherers. In that men are protectors and is financially sound and their wife know she is loved - in that she feels secure.

I understand what your saying, but parts of definitions of a warrior are not so. Yes we are trained to fight and kill, but we are also peacemakers, I have been trained to do both.

Are you sure God didn't create some men to be warriors, protectors of our homes and country?

A warriors is the last person to be looking for a fight. Do you think warriors enjoy leaving their families to go off and fight in a strange land? Do you think we enjoyed being shot at or having bombs and mortars blowing up around us? Do you think we enjoy killing another human being, regardless of our religious differences? The answer to all questions is defiantly not. Warriors left their homes and loved ones, to put their lives on the line because of love, the love for their families and country.

I remember the night before I left my family and friends to go fight in a hell hole called Iraq, my friends took my family and me out to dinner. My one friend had a son there of the age one year, I stood up to thank everyone, then I remember staring at this little child and said "I'm doing this for you and future generations". I went to war, not because I like it, I went to war so our Children and their children don't have to fear getting on an hijacked airplane, I did it so they don't have to fear going into a building and having it fall down around them because of a plane flying into it or a car blowing up just outside of it. Our children deserve to at least feel safe within the boundaries of our own country and if that means going to war and possibly dying for their safety, then so be it.

But being in the army of God giving yourself as a sacrifice is so much different than the army of the world. We are taught by God to put on the armour of God in the book of Ephesians 6 in this army we do not fight against flesh and blood. Those out in the world both men and women who are unregenerated without God live like whoosies. Both the women and men in the world refuse to assume their roles when it comes to their families which comes naturally but through defiance and disobedience toward the will of God they don't even do that. Those in the world without God do just the opposite of the will of God. This will only change through salvation in Jesus Christ. Until then the majority in society will not take on their rightful role as a man or woman. Being the case their twisted mentality causes them to go against nature and they will not even take care of their own and even the animals do that naturally.

Instructions for the christian men and woman in his holy word how how both are to conduct themselves without these characteristics in my opinion both sexes are whoosies and weak in the Lord.

The "Wild At Heart" book wasn't encouraging military expression, though. It was encouraging what you are saying. But it also encourages men not being push-overs.

Would you not consider the Apostles to have been warriors?

Monarchy, that is a very good definition of the head of a family and a real (Christian) man.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
