I have had about 1.5 hours of sleep and am exhausted. So please excuse me if any of this doesn't come across clearly.

I was just wondering. Do you think it's possible to be attacked by demons while you are sleeping?

I have a history of having very vivid realistic dreams and often I remember them.

Sometimes in my dream there is this paralyzing fear. When it happens I wake up gasping for air and feeling like I must turn on some lights.

The other night I was spending the night with my friend and dreamed I was laying in the bed. Something stroked my hair, and I smiled at first because I thought it was god, but then it let out this crazy awful maniacal laughter and then started pulling my hair and clawing at my scalp. I woke up screaming. I was very afraid

I kinda shrugged this dream off. It made me a little worried. But I just figured it was a dream.

Last night I had many of these sorts of dreams with scary presences in them. Woke up sweating and gasping for air. The last one I had for the morning I remember. I always struggle to speak when this being or figure is in my dream and I was struggling to say, "Who are you?" and he replied after laughing all creepy that he was "Heaven" and I said "You are a liar, you cannot be heaven" and I woke up gasping for air. It shook me I had to turn on my big light, and watch some t.v.

I just prayed for protection. I wasn't sure if it was just my mind or something legit messing with me. I don't usually put a lot of stock into super natural things. Or seek out bad things to happen or anything. So I realize I may be being paranoid or silly. And that's okay if you tell me that. i just need a fresh perspective. Some advice even. The other thing you may need to know is that I am in the process of coming back to the Lord and am struggling with the whole process.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Yes, I do. Just speak the name of Jesus.

My experience is not demonic, but I have had "Night Fright" where I am paralized with fear and unable to move even when I believe a unfriendly presense is in the room with me.

HHH, need to ask a seemingly dumb question, but feel that I must. Have you since you started backing away from the Lord had any time periods where you don't remember what has happened? I have acuqaintences that have experienced what you are describing and they can be occultic backed things, but they can also just be trama that you dream up for yourself. If it's not just yourself dreaming these things sooner or later they'll start happening while you're awake.

In either case, you need to be using the name of Jesus to drive them away. Just speak out loud to them that In the name of Jesus go away. It's usually a good idea to tell them to stay away in the process. Just remember that there are some demonic entities that takes prayer and fasting to overcome, so don't forget to keep your prayer life very active and ask the Lord for protection from these things. Even it is's your sub concious messing with your decision to return to the Lord, praying over it should help.

Lack of sleep can be the root cause of the problem if it is your own mind causing it...... it's important to keep up with your rest or it will affect your brain chemistry and I've experienced that problem peraonally and I nearly went nuts over it.... it was caused by taking a prescription drug for asthma. I switched from sleeping about 9 hours a day to about 3 and after about two months I got really squirrley in many ways. Dreams were really bad, and then they came as daydreams when I didn't realize I was sleeping. I'd be going somewhere and find myself in a parking lot a couple of hours later and not even realize I had stopped and dropped into a long nap. Then I'd be up all night.

Anyway whatever the cause is you need to get a grip on it.

I think this is part of the spiritual battle you are in at the moment, given your return to the Lord.

There was a time when I was making a stronger commitment to the Lord and I had a recurring dream that the devil was circling around me, and he was pointing a finger at me, and it was made out of bone. He wanted to poke my eye out, so I'd have no discernment.

It was very scary, but I prayed, and rebuked the enemy, and reaffirmed my commitment to the Lord. Over time, it went away. I also got others in the church to pray for me.emot-hug.gif

If anything, I hope this serves to clearly show the spiritual battle we are in. It is real, it is not imagined. There is a battle for our soul and for everyone's soul, and we have to take up our place in the Lord's army.

Always remember this:

1 John 4

4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

Praying for you emot-hug.gif

I have experienced something similiar. I have been diagnosed with Post traumatic stress disorder and night terrors are a symptom of that. Google ptsd +night terrors to learn more about the symptoms of night terrors. I began to pray to God about these dreams and ask for his help. The next time I had one of those dreams... it wasn't as hard to speak in the dream- and I found myself screaming the name of Jesus over and over again like my life depended on it. The fear and the darkness would lighten up if not completely go away. From that night on- it always happens... the night terrors come... and in my sleep- dreaming- I begin to yell the name of Jesus... and it all subsides.

I began to notice a correlation between being taken from glory to glory- and these episodes. So I began to be less scared when they happened. I trusted God would protect me - and that something was happening on a spiritual realm that I didn't understand. May you turn back to God, may you remember that you have tasted and seen that God is good. May he strengthen you and give you the ability to seek him with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.

When you feel fear speak these scriptures:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Timothy 1:7

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15

Have a blessed night!

Subconscious~~~

The battle is with-in:

What do I desire? This world or He that is Greater then he who is in this world? I fight against Godly things that my Lord Jesus wants me to have. I dream of demons that are keeping me from that which is good. So if I fall, I can point a finger of blame toward a demon that was tempting me.

When I lay down to go to sleep, in my Father's Hands, knowing no force on this earth can snatch me out of His Grasp, yet, I allow Fear to enter my mind so can roll out of His hands and back into the world.

Former military view: Demons have no reason to attack those who are turning away from the Lord Jesus. Attackers in most cases are fought off, so why would a demon attack while you in the hands of the Lord. A better plan, draw them away from the safe place, with pleasing dreams.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

This is a test!

First thank you all for your responses. I appreciate them.

Butterfly I have PTSD- I never thought about it being night terrors. Because the dreams aren't related to my trauma exactly...I looked up night terrors and it sounds exactly like what is happening.

What did you mean when you said, "I began to notice a correlation between being taken from glory to glory- and these episodes." what's from glory to glory? I don't understand that reference.

Dennis, how do you mean "It's a test?" A test of what?

:emot-hug: Candice.

Otherone I have poor memory in general. I have gaps in memory related to some trauma issues, but none as far as when I left the Lord vs when I started to come back that I am aware of at least. I know what to do if it is demons now. And if it is just my mind I will have to get on a better sleep schedule. I have issues with some mania and sometimes I cannot sleep at night. So lack of sleep could very well be a part of this.

thanks again.

Hello :) Sorry about that... for me, in my life and walk with God... from glory to glory describes what is happening with me. For example: Before I had a relationship with God- I knew there was a God and he created us, that he had a son, he had to die for some reason, and now we would go to heaven. I knew what the ten commandments were and that you should try and obey them. I consider it to God's glory- that I knew that much. But he didn't he leave me there. I almost died from a gall bladder surgery gone wrong~ while in the hospital a chaplain came in and handed me a little phamplet. I read it and realized I was one of God's lost sheep. I cried out to him and prayed the salvation prayer. Again... I consider that another glory! Each step coming closer and closer to God. To a relationship with him. Learning to be more like Jesus. My life (probably as most) has consisted of God working with me, teaching me, showing me places I'm falling short and giving me the ability to change so on and so forth~ I'd like to compare the "glory to glory" to "leveling up" in a video game- but that's not quite right... because I'll never have a "high score" - and I'm not any better then anyone else. My level isn't better than anyone else's- it's just my level. So you being called back to your walk with God I'd consider another glory! He's taking you to a different level- of praise, worship, relationship, learning, understanding...etc. Hope that helps! Add me as a friend if you like :) It's been a pleasure to meet you. :emot-hug:

Had to edit this and add in the scriptures I found... (I'm sure that's where I got the saying "from glory to glory" or I might have heard a sermon being preached on the subject. I can't quite remember)

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

New Living Translation

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

English Standard Version

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

I posted with a woman who had dreams of this nature who said even in her dream she rebuked her

tormentor in the name of Jesus!

That is great to realize even while dreaming to rebuke in His name! I was impressed that she was

able to do that. We may sleep, but Jesus does not, He is ever present to watch over us.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
