- Before I start I'm sorry I think I'm posting this in completely the wrong place! Sorry.

Since I started studying the bible I have a New International Version and its really simple to follow and I can just understand and follow and move on. However I'm finding it really annoying that at times I'm not getting enough time to sit and study so what I'm planning to do is get an e-book reader and have it with me at times of when I am on the train to work etc etc.

What I am interested to know is, Is there a more simpler version of the bible than the New International Version?

A better version is the New King James with the Scofield Reference notes that helps to explain what you are reading and gives you a good concordance( dictionary). I know not all will agree but that is my recommendation.

Are these available on the Kindle I wonder? I went shopping for a Kindle today only to be told the newer version was out in April so I will be better off waiting for that.

Download the free version of e-sword if you are going electronic. ESV and KJV are free to download as is a host or reference material, dictionaries and commentaries.

Have you considered buying a bible on CD? I have the Word of Promise audio bible (NKJV) and love it. It is not the monotone type, but one that sounds like a movie. I listen to it every time I am traveling.

I suggest you read as much as you can when you have the actual book in your hands and while you read it "hide the word in your heart" and you will find that the anointing you were given will cause the Word to richly dwell in you and the study will be in your heart between you and him without the actual book in your hands. I say this but encourage you to sit down regularly with the actual book to read and study as well.

I don't use 'simpler' versions also known as dynamic translations, as I stick to more of a word for word translation. Considering the day we live in the all have their weakness but Gods word is not bound. The spirit not limited.

May the Lord richly bless you in your studies as you hear and obey what he shows you,

Hi Gary,

Thats the thing, I love the actual feel of a book in my hands and lately its like every time I am on the train I look in my bag and then realize how i've forgotten the Bible again. I sort of want to substitute the time I spend reading a worthless newspaper with reading the Bible.

I utterly agree with you about the reading a closer to the KJV as it wont allow for anything to get lost in translation or versions even. I am going to study the variances in the versions too. Im like a sponge when it comes to reading the bible - im breezing through the NIV version and I want to read other versions so that I have taken it all in.

I also have a NKJV Audio Bible I listen to on public transport. It's great for when you can't get a seat. It's a no excuses kinda thing thumbsup.gif.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
