Will we know or remember?

A strange question I suppose, but one that just crossed my mind....

When we die, some will go to heaven and some to hell, that much is true.

But do you think we will remember or be cognizant of who we were and what we were, or did, while here?

I might be persuaded otherwise with scripture, but I too lean in that direction of thought.

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

I can only hope that our memory will be wiped. There are a lot of things I would like to forget, and a lot of things I would like others to forget. lol

God said He will "remember no more" our sins, so if He is able to do so I would think other would too; not remember things that is(people, sins, events, etc). But then at the same time, it would seem as though some things would always be in remembrance or else it would not have been much use of us having lived this life to begin with.

Yeah I get that, and the fact that we will be new creations, but nowhere does it say we will not remember? Unless the "come into mind" applies.

My belief: I will have to capacity to remember things of old but not the desire. Even today I can remember things but don't have to. They can be brought up by someone else too but I believe that no one in the new earth shall desire to remember for the truth that is before them. May God bless you all in sincerity.

Of course we will remember. It would be a huge injustice if we didn't. Things will be refective of our life on earth ( the rewards in Heaven and the punishments of Hell ). Although you may require scriptures to show this, think of it this way. There are NO scriptures that indicate a memory wipe, and I certainly don't see that kind of a GOD in scripture. DO YOU?

If our memories are wiped away, how will we remember what Jesus did for us?

The impact and significance of that would be lost.

I think we'll remember our past lives and this will serve as a reminder of our truly blessed salvation. It won't be a sad memory but a liberating one. imo

Luke 16 might indicate we'll know about the past but it's a parable.
