Whose name should we call upon?

First off it is helpful to know a bit about the original Hebrew names of God and His Son. In the OT God's Son is called The angel of YHWH.

Prov 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

The name of God's Son was not revealed until the angel named the child "JESUS"

Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Luke 1:30-31

Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Ephesians 3:9 ... the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Where is God's Son called the angel of YHWH?

____________________________________________________________________

Matthew 28 indicates that the Angel of the Lord is not Jesus

Matthew 28:1-9

Matt 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Matt 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

Matt 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

Matt 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

Matt 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Matt 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Matt 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Matt 28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Matt 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Whose name should we call upon?

Galatians 4:6

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Mark 14:36

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Thanks. When reading the OT we see the Angel of YHWH receives worship, then we know that this is God's Son, for angels never accept worship, Revelation 19:10; 22:9 but God's Son does, because he is God. http://bible.cc/colossians/1-15.htm

Also the angel of YHWH is called YHWH when people address him. Genesis 18 and 19

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Revelation 12:5-14 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

"I am YHWH; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols." Isaiah 42:8

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?

1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

Can you answer me also, simply with direct scripture... Whose Spirit?

Jesus'

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6

God, The Holy Ghost

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

:) Acts 16:7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Romans 8:9

This is the chapter in the Bible that brought me to the Truth concerning the Godhead. Please read the entire chapter.

John chapter 14

17even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

18“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Jesus told His disciples to pray saying 'Our Father' and then He said to ask the Father in His name - so we should begin with "Father" and end with "in Jesus name, Amen".

Are you relating the Angel of YHWH to receiving worship because of Genesis 19:1?

Genesis 18 never says the word "angel" (as to whether or not they were men and/or angels and/or the LORD, we would have to study that to find out).

Is Genesis 19:1 referring to God's son?

(It says "angels" - plural)

Gen 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

- Lot bowed himself with his face toward the ground... are you wondering if this is "worship" ?

- Genesis 23:7 indicates that "Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth."

- Did Abraham worship the children of Heth?

- As to verse 18 of Genesis 19...

18And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my LORD:

- It states in Malachi that the priest is the messenger of the LORD... (Malachi 2:7)

- So could Lot saying unto the two angels "my LORD" mean that the angels were the messengers of the LORD and speaking for The LORD?

I didn't dig up specific examples (I know the book I was reading didn't use those) because it isn't really important to the OP. It is something I just happened to learn. It isn't needed.

So no need to prove myself right. I might be wrong.

I might come back later with examples of God the Son in the OT, that might be helpful, but that is not exactly the same point.

"Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about taking from among the Gentiles a people for His name." -- Acts 15:14

What was that name? Is there a scripture that very simply and directly answers this question?

Acts 11:26 And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.

Acts 26:28, "Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian"

1 Peter 4:16, "Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed."

Jesus prayed to our Father … John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

John 16:23 . . Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.

Is Jesus Jehovah also? Yes, but He is not our Father.

Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD (Jehovah); and beside me there is no saviour.

Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

My understanding of the Hebrew word Yahweh is the vocalized word YHWH or Jehovah.

Wikipedia provides the following explanation.

ehovah ( /dʒɨˈhoʊvə/) is ananglicized representation ofHebrew יְהֹוָה, a vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה(YHWH), the proper name of theGod of Israel in the Hebrew Bible.[1]

יְהֹוָה appears 6,518 times in the traditional Masoretic Text, in addition to 305 instances of יֱהֹוִה(Jehovih).[2] The earliest availableLatin text to use a vocalization similar to Jehovah dates from the 13th century.[3]

Most scholars believe "Jehovah" to be a late (ca. 1100 CE) hybrid form derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai, but there is some evidence that it may already have been in use in Late Antiquity(5th century).[4][5] It was not the historical vocalization of the Tetragrammaton at the time of the redaction of the Pentateuch (6th century BCE), at which time the most likely vocalization was Yahweh. The historical vocalization was lost because in Second Temple Judaism, during the 3rd to 2nd centuries BCE, the pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton came to be avoided, being substituted with Adonai "my Lord".

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
