I am  just glad I never had that monkey on my back.  I am glad to see that some of you have been delivered from smoking.  Praying that the rest of you will enjoy that deliverance as well.

I wonder how many Christians still smoke?? I do and I know I shouldn't and I have tried to stop. My main problem is that I enjoy a cigarette with a cup of coffee, after a meal, when i sit down to rest, and in between. For me a cigarette is a stimulant when I am tired or can't think straight; and a seditave when I am upset. I feel like I have leprosy when I light up anywhere but my house.. i respect others who don't smoke and if they visit me... I will smoke outside. Do you smoke????

No I don't smoke.  And I"m sure there are a lot of Christians that do.  However I worked in the medical field all my life and saw the results of this habit from having to live on oxygen to dying from lung cancer.  Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit we need to watch what we put in that temple and what kind of a testimony you are putting out there.  You sound as if your replacing a cigarette for what the Lord could do for you if you trust Him and let Him do His work in your life.  Ask yourself a question.  Would you invite Jesus to join you for a cup of coffee with a cigarette in your hand our would you rather just sit with your Savior and tell Him how much you love Him and thank Him for all He has done for you?

I feel sure anyone would not want to smoke in front of Jesus and most likely would not if given a chance.  when they see him they will have already left the physical body which holds the addiction.

and second Jesus knows who smokes on earth and where their heart is; if he were to present himself to a smoker he would not be surprised about it.

What about people who are gluttons? That is just as much as a sin.Do you like to eat? What about gambling? What about those who break all of those "insignificant" laws such as going over the speed limit, going through a red light? You can not point your finger at just one sin.We are all sinners.

I don't think anyone is pointing at just one sin.  This thread is about smoking.  We have other threads about other sins too, so you don't need to get all bent out of shape about it.

I am not all bent out of shape.I am just being honest like you often are shiloh.Just the truth. But if you are speaking of smoking I also needed to incorporate some other sins and addictions to bring my point across.

Yeah, but acting like we are only majoring on smoking isn't a very good point since we have threads on drinking, gambling, smoking, homosexuality, premarital sex, adultery, New Age activities and a host of other sins.   No one is ignoring what you call "insignificant" sins.   it just happens to be that those are not the topic of this thread.

If I did that I apologise did not mean to step on any toes.

I would think that smoking is some form of slow suicide no? I believe that if someone smokes to the point of becoming sick and keeps smoking knowing that they will die if they keep smoking is pretty much like suicide. And I don't think that ppl who commit suicide go to heaven, maybe not hell either (if there is a place in between these two?).

Theres no in between place, limbo is a false doctrine, hell gets thrown in the lake of fire and God makes a new heaven and a new earth and we all live in New Jerusalem not heaven. Read the last couple of pages of Revelations for all the details.

The current heaven and earth are going to be destroyed with a loud noise and fervent heat. Sounds scary but its necessary.

So you think that per say.... a tribe of people living in natural harmony in a remote jungle and never had a chance to even know that the Bible exist will get thrown into a lake of fire? I don't think so...

I don't smoke (cause im 14), but I don't think there's anything wrong with it (provided that you do it at an age that it's legal) unless you're addicted to it. I think the same for drinking, too.

I don't smoke because I am 14!" :24::24::24: I love that!!!

Honey, I am not putting you down, but you would have to be over sixty to really appreciate the humor in what you said. :24:

I don't have a problem with anyone who wants a drink once in awhile either even though I do not drink. It is better for your body to not get obese, don't smoke and don't drink.Although I have known of people who have taken the best care of their body and were athletic and were extremely careful with what they ate and put into their body and they were having a quadruple bypass. It is all about the genes.

I am not talking about not going down rabbit trails.   That's not what is happening here.   We are talking about the sin of smoking and you are, for all intents and purposes raising other issues as if by talking about smoking in this thread we are ignoring other sins, and I am saying that it's not the case that you are making an issue out of a non-issue because we have threads on those issues, too.   If someone starts taking this thread down a path about gambling, that's not a problem.  The problem is your insinuation that we are hammering on one sin at the exclusion of other sins, and I am simply saying it's not a fair accusation.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
