I have been doing a study on this and I would love to hear your comments on what you believe is the Fear of God.

Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Psalm 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Thanks for your responses! :)

In his love,

Brian

Dear Brian,

I truly believe that the fear of the Lord, being the beginning of wisdom, is this:

The belief that God will DO what His Word says He will DO! It is believing also that there IS judgment for the man that will not surrender unto God's Authority, and believe that He is Faithful and True to His Word. It begins with a man believing that there is judgment for one who will not repent, because there is a TRUE AND LIVING GOD WHO IS ACCORDING TO HIS WORD. A man who works out his salvation with trembling, is the man who acknowledges the Majesty and Sovereignty of God, just as the child acknowledges the love and authority of his father, so will the child of God, do the same, and obey the Father.

I believe that is why the beginning of Proverbs is the Father's instruction to a son, just as our instruction is from the Father, and should be obeyed because we believe Him to be the FATHER that HE IS! He always fulfills what He says.......ALWAYS.

In His Love,

Suzanne

To me it is the knowledge of what the ultimate end of each of us is to be. We all deserve eternal destruction. It is the knowledge of trusting God to do what he has said he would do. Take that statement to heart...... God has promised every human being that ever lived an eternity in Hell (whatever we want to decide that is, it is not a good thing). To not fear this is beyond rational thinking if you believe God is really there.

The good news is that He has made a way for us to escape this even though we don't deserve it. We must simply make Him our Lord and thus live as best we can the lives he told us to live. (Only He can know if we have done this.)

We should come to Him in fear and trembling knowing He is our only hope whatsoever.

Once we have come to Him and received the things he has promised, we no longer have to fear our outcome.

Clearly we are not to become lazy and "do nothings" for he has told us not to live that way. Clearly we are not to live sinful lives for he has told us not to live that way. Clearly we are not to let others suffer if we can help, for He has told us not to live that way.

If He is our Lord we will do the things he has told us. If we do not then we have not really made Him our Lord and I would think we should still be very fearful of our future.

Question your salvation every single day before you go to bed........ make sure you really made that decision, and are living up to your word. If not in every way then work needs to be done to bring your actions in line with your words. I have to do this more than I would like to admit, but I'm working on it daily.

Dear Brian,

I had forgetten this and in my quiet time came back across it in my Bible.

"What is the Fear of the Lord"?

Proverbs 8:13

To fear the LORD is to hate evil;

I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 3:7

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

fear the LORD and shun evil.

Proverbs 23:17

Do not let your heart envy sinners,

but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.

Psalms 97:10

Let those who love the LORD hate evil,

Psalm 101

Psalm 103:11

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is His love for those who fear Him;

Psalm 103:13

As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him;

Psalm 103:17

But from everlasting to everlasting

the Lord's love is with those who fear Him,

In His Love,

Suzanne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
