Because that is the name John gives to it in Revelation 20. He likens Satan's army to Magog.

And here lies the point of contention - not everyone agrees with this interpretation of things.

Think I'll leave now before things get even messier around here!

What's to be interpreted? It's right there in the text Neb.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea.

When you look at the Ezekiel text, it's easy to see how Satan is the Rosh (chief or head) of Magog. Ezekiel called him Gog. John is simply making a comparison between what happens at the end of the 1000 years and the Scythian invasion of Israel, regarding swiftness and intensity.

4. Bombastic? This coming from a pre-millennialist? Please. Pre-mils change their theology every time someone in the Middle East farts. Who's the 'antichrist' this week? What's the Mark of the Beast this week? Pre-mils have being bombastic down to an art.

What Cobalt said.

Yes, bombastic and roundly lacking in the fruits of the Spirit. Its always someone else's fault.

Keep in mind that when you start pointing the finger at others three fingers are pointed back at yourself.

Bombastic means sensational. Pre-millennialism is well known for its sensationalism. As I said before...how many times do pre-mils change their theology to suit the news headlines? "This is the pre-cursor to Armageddon." Then whatever 'this' is doesn't happen, so the next big case of a ME dictator with indigestion comes along and they change again. It's laughable.

And I wasn't pointing my finger at anyone until the crap-slinging started. I was making a point. I'm lacking in the fruit of the spirit because I don't agree with your eschatology? Spare me.

:24::24: I never mentioned eschatology in any way shape or form. I just pointed out the "tone" your posts appear to carry here and in other threads.

Many people interpret Magog to be a place - an ancient name for a city, not the name of an army or demonic hoard or whatever.

well i dont agree with america being the last christian nation.

lets dig into our sad history, as recently reminded of by a christian consertive named mr,alan keyes who does believe that are founded in christ.

was it christ like for us to force the cherokees from their land and to force indians to convert?

was it christ like to ignore the jewish plight?

was it christ like to sterliize "the weak"?

indeed we have been founded on christ but like any nation we can be removed by god and god goes another. china is likely next, just look at our church. in the south, and i know of the stories as i met men and women who were hated for being black in white christian churches or forced to work in menial position at those churches. that isnt that long ago. what is the excuse for that given that the bible is clear?

The things you listed are true, Jason, but.....I believe we have tried hard to right the wrongs of our ancestors. Think....we have a black President. Americans, as a whole, have come a long way from the days of indian killing, slavery and turning a blind eye to the plight of the Jews. No nation is righteous in the eyes of God....not even Israel.

that is my point, its grace and god grace that got us this far. it was never the nation that god did that for but the churches that did resist that sin.

the church righted the wrong of slavery, we spoke up agianst the indian treatments. now i fear beacause the church is too weak and ladociean we must fall so that this revival many have prayed for must come.

It's not mine, and I believe I heard it in a sermon in a tiny but very Spirit filled church in Arkansas years ago. It was one of those times that someone says something that makes so much sense it sticks with you. :) The preacher said something else too.

That when we see something wrong in someone else's life -- its time to take a look at your own life to see if you are doing it too . . . :whistling:

Yes, the Spirit was stepping on lots of toes that night. I really miss services like that.

That is correct for the Ezekiel prophecy. Magog is a place, its people were known as Magogites in ancient history. What John is doing is comparing Ezekiel's Gog and Magog account to what happens at the end of the 1000 years. There are both similarities and differences in the two accounts. In Revelation 20, Magog is the unbelieving peoples of the world, coming from the four quarters of the earth. Satan is Gog to their Magog in John's analogy.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
