I just think that many times we willingly allow fellowships and connections in our lives, that expose our families to something that we should not.

Excellent point!

By the way, may I offer you a compliment? Every one of your threads are so enjoyable to participate in because they remain calm and peaceful. I see that as a result of your FRUIT and sincerity. I appreciate you and often feel refreshed by your threads.

Oh Wayne that's just so sweet. I must confess though, I believe it is much of the Spirit, but more than likely it's also due to being worn out from previous website battles. I've recognized that most times it's not worth the fight, on SO many levels. I'm much like an old dog, learned from my fighting days.........they're just not productive.

Here is just one thing to consider... Jesus and the apostles always went to the people's home, they did not invite unbeliever's into their own homes (maybe cuz they didn't have one, maybe not), but when they left the unbeliever's home... Jesus said that if they did not accept the truth to shake off the dust from their feet. That their peace would return to them.

Mar 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.KJV

2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. KJV

2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,KJV

The scripture in question is refering to others coming to you for the sake of persuading you with false doctrines, not just for a glass of water, but wishing them "God speed", keep in mind our words have actions that follow. We have become very careless with what we put out there verbally. Light has no place with darkness so we have no business blessing those who come in another name other then Jesus.

By doing so, (whishing them well or luck or helping them in anyway to make their destructive path easier) you are saying you are ok with those doctrines and you will take part in answering for those doctrines.

Just a thought.

Your sister in Christ,

Alison

I bring these passages, because they were of interest to me this morning in quiet time, and because of some of the threads I am reading here in the Spiritual Warfare section.  How do you practice these teachings, or do you?

2 John 1

5 And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. 6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

So do you practice this teaching?

In His Love,

Suzanne

I believe this verse is not talking to peoples homes but to house churches. Until about 300 AD the early church met in houses and not buildings like today. Most time when you see house in the NT it refer to house churches for example in Philemon 1:2 And to our beloved Apphia and Archippus our fellowsoldier , and to the church in thy house. So for today it would mean if your pastor invites a false teacher to preach in his church then he disobey this verse here.

So, if it is applicable to the church, would it not apply to the home as well? In my home it does.

My home as well. :whistling: I stand at the door or on the front porch and share my testimony show scripture about salvation through the finished work of Christ and then say "so long" I do not offer them rest or refreshment to help them on their way, I am hoping they will go home and search the scripture rather than going on in my neighborhood sharing their beliefs.

I'm shocked at this thread!!!! I have an open door on my house and I pray to the Lord that I have a servant's heart to minister to whomever He sends. I invite the Mormons in for coffee and pie and they really appreciate it, Lord knows they get pretty fatigued. I invite the JWs in too and share my hospitality. I even have drunks that sleep on my couch sometimes because they need a loving place to land in their darkness. They are drawn to His light and it gives me opportunity to witness and they really appreciate it. My children see us having hearts for hospitality instead of shutting the doors of our ivory towers against all these percieved enemies who we are supposed to be loving, feeding, and shining His light upon. Jesus dined with the sinners because it's they that need Him, not the righteous. He also told us in a parable to go out into the highways and hedges and invite the beggars and lame and lost for dinner at our tables.

"When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment. "But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Open your doors, saints!!!!!!! Don't hide your lamp under a bushel basket!!! Do you not trust the Lord to guide you, keep you, protect yuou, and deliver you from evil???????????

I don't think the verse is saying not to minister to those who come to you, but if someone approaches preaching another gospel you should not receive them as a brother... or teacher. We are not to accept/tolerate false teachings, but we most certainly are told to share the Good News.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
