Halloween banned??

The part that I think is getting lost are the childrens' feelings. This is a big deal. Halloween, no matter the origins, is now just a night where the whole country plays make believe and share treats with each other. I don't prefer, and probably wouldn't encourage my children to dress like the more scarier creatures, but I remember when I was young, loving that my whole family, (more than 40 people) would come over, and even the adults played dress up, we gave candy to other kids, we went around the neighborhood gettting candy, and then came home to see the neat stuff we got. At school, it was a day to be anticipated. We got to celebrate imagination and creativity. NOT ONE CHILD ever, I am guessing, thought, well now I will follow Satan. Or later in life thought, well that holiday lead to my destruction.

I think just like the parent who sanitizes everything their child touches, makes them more suceptible to getting ill in the real world where they can't sanitize, THIS IS THE SAME, it is not about whatever myth this holiday originated, it is about giving a day to our kids where we join in and celebrate creativity and sharing with the neighborhood.

Why does something so superficial, and supported mostly by the retail industry have to be classified so harshly? Sometimes I think we as Christians can get a little too high and sensitive on our soap boxes.

So lets step down, and have some fun WITH our kids. It is important to them, so it should be important to us!

No but they could ban it for offending all indigenous people who had their land stolen and their ancestors murdered and raped by the the gererations who came after those original "pilgrims". You could also make a similar argument on behalf of those whose ancestors were enslaved and bought from Africa.
