There is also evidence of a bottleneck. Something I heard from a scientist who is not a believer. According to what he found from dna evidence, humanity was almost wiped out except for a few survivors. He dated it to about 10,000 years ago. He claimed it was due to a "supervolcano" which erupted and caused worldwide catastrophe.

Just wanted to get peoples opinions on what they might believe on the topic that Adam and Eve was the only 2 people on the earth at that time.I am newer to this forums and noticed a very old (closed) post on this. I am just curious on if I might be missing something when I read Genesis,am always open to learning, and see if there is something I am missing. In my opinion Adam and Eve were not the only 2 people at that time. It states that Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel. In Genesis 4 vs 17 it states Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. Where did Cain get his wife if they was the only 4 at that point (Adam,Eve,Cain,Abel who was killed at this point) ? In Genesis 4 vs 25 it states And Adam knew his wife again and bore Seth for God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed. So we are brought back into the 4 (Adam,Eve,Cain and now Seth) Its written the generations of Cain from Gen 4 vs 18-22 to how Cain's seed started, but nothing in between about Adam and Eve having more children, multiplying at all, before or after Cain and Abel, untill Eve bore Seth. Then in Genesis 5 vs 4 it states After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were 800 yrs,and he had sons and daughters. Why wouldn't this verse be after Cain and Abel was born, or even before they was born,to then prove Adam and Eve were the only 2 people on earth and everyone came from Adam and Eve. Your thoughts ? There is no wrong answer, would like people to post what they think without anyone questioning them,to see how they take this part of Genesis.

So what do you do with this verse?

Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Peace in Christ.

I take this verse as Eve is the mother of all living,if someone does not believe in God,you are not living. or your spiritually dead. And she is the begining of the lineage to where Christ was born. again its just what I feel it means, not saying its right, but I am really trying to understand these first few chapters,Thanks for your comment

Thanks everyone for your comments, hope we all can continue to discuss this without any racisim involved, and in a civil way. Another area I am confused about it Gen 1 vs 26-27 where I take this as on the 6th day God created male and female as hunters and fisherman. In vs 28 God blessed them and said be fruitfull and multiply and vs 31 God saw everything that he made and it was very good. He then rested on the 7th day. then In chapter 2 vs 5 before any plant, herb, was on the field had grown for God had not caused it to rain and there was no man to till the ground (I am reading this as creating a man as a farmer) but this is either the 7th or 8th day,I am not sure, but it seems it definitly is not the 6th day. If this is a special man where Christ would come through then 1 thing I have learned studying is alot of things are repeated,or givin as another example but all have the same principle. If this would be true that satan did this to Adam and Eve,killed all the new borns when Christ was born, etc. Satan always trying to ruin the lineage that Jesus will come through. Feel free to discuss anything on this,Hopefully not in a racist manner. I just want to try to understand the first few chapters of Genesis. Me being raised a certain religion, these verses are confusing to what was taught, and its the reason I now look up anything taught in the Word itself with Bible, strongs concordence.and any tools I can find to help.

it was not the seventh or eighth-the plants, and gardens, were made on the third, the animals, and people, on the sixth. Chapter 2, is simply a summary, of the 7 days of creation (the seventh is when God rested) as well as the specifics of why and where God made the garden of Eden, and where He put Adam and Eve.

I can see your confusion. God did not make male and female as hunters and fishermen. Here is Genesis 1:29-30 "And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so."

You seem to be quite confused on what a lot of scripture means. You are reading things into it that are not there. God created male and female on day 6, not hunters and fishermen. In fact, man was not even given permission to eat meat until after the flood (Gen 9:3) Gen 2 is typical of Hebraic literature in which they first give an outline and then flesh it out with a specific point (as I understand it from scholars). Gen 2 is Gen 1 with the focus on man.

I take this verse as Eve is the mother of all living,if someone does not believe in God,you are not living. or your spiritually dead.

I can see why you end up in error then. You have concluded that the verse does not mean what it appears to be saying. This happens due to conflict in our foundational beliefs. When we believe something to be true, we build upon that foundation of presuppositions and if our foundation is faulty that which is built upon it cannot stand. So rather than accept this verse at face value, which contradicts your position, you interpret it according to that which you believe to be true, which is Adam and Eve were not alone. That is your choice.

And she is the begining of the lineage to where Christ was born.

According to the bible Adam is the beginning of the lineage of Christ, but I believe I understand the intent.

again its just what I feel it means, not saying its right, but I am really trying to understand these first few chapters,Thanks for your comment

I can get with that, just trying to understand these first few chapters. I remember struggling to put it all together and in order myself. It was difficult and painstaking. It took me awhile to be patient with God as he taught me. I like to get way ahead of his teaching and it costs me.

Always remember the rules of receiving biblical understanding.

Luk 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Isa 28:9-10 ¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? [them that are] weaned from the milk, [and] drawn from the breasts. For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:

Without obedience to that which we read, we will never be able to understand the rest. Sin has perverted us. By purifying our minds through the sanctification process, the fog lifts and we see much clearer the things that were once hidden from our eyes.

Peace unto you. May you be blessed in your quest to know Him.

It does not list how many childen Adam and Eve had. But Cain and Abel are the main ones in the Bible that they list. As descendants grew from them. One way or the other.

Right Answer

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:26-27

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day Genesis 1:31

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:6

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Genesis 2:21-25

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:21-22

Wrong Answer

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Genesis 3:1(a-c )

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Genesis 3:4

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart. Jeremiah 18:12

What, The Devil Got Your Tongue?

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4

Believe

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:9-12

And Be Blessed Beloved

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
