If you don't like this country, there is a VERY easy solution - Move.

Is it not every citizen's right and responsibility to try to change what they do not like, rather than opting out?

Nope.  If you disagree you must abandon the country, not fight for it.

I'm sorry but that statement is simply ridiculous.  Cut and run is the coward's way out.

I could be wrong, but I think that statement by wonby was sarcasm.

Morality does not come from the government, the government cannot impose morality on it's people.

If we are turning to the government to impose morality, we have lost the battle already.

Morality is achieved one person at a time

I agree somewhat with that. But, for good or ill, the Government gives leadership. It has media time, it makes and changes laws, it controls huge amounts of funding.

I have to disagree.

All laws involve morality.  They pass laws against "bad" things and make "good" thinks legal.  If not, name one law that is devoid of morality.  You can't do it.

The way God wired us is to adopt the morality of an authority figure that we look up to.  This means that we obtain our morality from our parents, the government, clergy, etc.  Whichever authority figure you look up towards the most has the most influence.  That is why you see Nancy Pelosi holding to the party line on abortion while Catholic priests basically excommunicate her from the church.  For her, the party morality on abortion trumps that of the clergy.

We also have history to prove what I'm saying here.  Before slavery was made illegal in the 1800's, by in large people thought that it was "OK", even though some thought it suboptimal.  However, after centuries of slavery being illegal, the pendulum has swung the other way.  Now the mere mention of slavery is repugnant to all.

Still not convinced?  Look at the public views on abortion.  Before abortion was made legal, by in large most thought it to be immoral.  However, after decades of it being legal, the pendulum has swung the other direction.  Now most tend to say it is "OK", even though it may be suboptimal, much like the slavery issue in reverse.

You might say that this makes us lemmings.  The Bible seems to agree by calling us sheep and we all look to a shepherd, like it or not.

As a student living on a college campus where many students believe socialism, communism and marxism are best for American (even though they have never visited countries who have those systems) I agree that they truly believe the U.S.A is an oppressive, war-mongering and evil capitalist regime. They ignore the essential values that rose America to become a world power. They are normally morally relative so the judeo-christian overtones in main u.s.a culture are seen as prejudice. They believe family is an institution of oppression and the only freedom is the ability to do what they want, when they want without any responsibility. They play the victim card for everything about race to gender to sexuality and many even did their own Occupy wall-street protest while reading scripts from Apple ipads. We need a fundamental transformation and this starts with individuals. The family unit needs to be re-established as being the best type of unit not cohabitation or casual relationships. We need to get back to the judeo-christian roots and realize that all life is sacred. all races are equal and that men and women have always been equal- they just have different pedestals. In my school there is an automatic self-segregation by many. In their wake to cry victim they automatically become prejudice to those who have caused them no oppression. In their cry for tolerance they become bigoted to those who are showing tolerance. And in the end they show their own lack of understanding except their own selfish goals. They take for granted that their freedom to talk, have a different opinion/belief and even dress the way they do is a freedom within itself. I don't think my college peers intend to turn America into a police state because they take for granted their own freedoms to do as they please without repercussion. I do believe they intend to destroy the moral fabric of society because they are amoral due to their moral relativity- they see any morality as judgmental. I don't think they realize that their actions could turn America into a police state so I don't think they have an intention to do so. If their is an intention I think they want to keep their freedoms since they believe they are entitled due to their beliefs but police other groups whom they hate/disagree with in terms of ideological beliefs. They want their cake, eat it and throw it in the face of others.

In terms of the comments about moving to a different country I truly wish many of my peers would move to a socialist/marxist country and experience the type of life they think is so great for u.s.a but even then I believe their pride will just make them think that country just "did it wrong". While it is every citizen's right to change something they do not like but that does not mean their change is good and if they like another country so much then they really should just move to that country. Why suffer in this "oppressive" society when they can just move and experience happiness?

Maybe they have a point. I suspect most of them do not in reality believe that other regimes are any better, but they see it as hypocritical to claim that the US is seriously better than most other nations, and believe it needs to change. It would concern me hugely if college students were not questioning the prevailing orthodoxy in their own country.

No offense, but why would you suspect that?  Have you been on a college campus in the U.S. lately?  I have and I attended college here nearly twenty years ago, even then the teacher were force feeding this kind of stuff down every students throat.  I would surmise just from talking to college age kids now and what Rev has written, that it has not become any better, but probably is a lot worse than when I was in college.

melas said it best but no they do believe communism and socialism are the best systems. But they believe they are better because 1) they have never gone to those countries and 2) they believe that the U.S can somehow trump all other countries and "do it correctly". The fact that they believe that the U.S can trump the history of socialism/communism and still stay a free society is still hypocritical and prideful. In essense they are stating that somehow u.s people can have better ideas that the plethora of other people who had the same ideas that led to the failure of their own countries. Also the questioning is not an analysis it is an indoctrination because they actually do not question- they just repeat.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
