In Jesus Christ's day the majority of the people who called themselves God's people put Him on the cross.

Mt.13:46 "Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it."

And again:

Mt. 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Therefore it would seem that a christian would have little desire to wrap themselves up in the political activities of this world.

Withdraw from politics, eh?

This is the JW approach.  They think that just voting soils them and they refuse to do it.

The more I see the more sympathetic I am to that way of thinking, especially as the GOP talks more and more about being more like the DNC to win elections.

I didn't mean withdraw, we are in the world but not of the world.

I believe a person should do what is required but we don't have to let it consume us.'Give to Caesar what is due'.

The polls from different agencies/groups have roughly the same numbers, this does not happen by mistake.

And of course conservatives would not vote for Obama, which is why we know that they voted for the Republican, which is what I have said all along.  Lots of conservatives talk about not voting for the Repubs, but when the time comes they will always go back to the GOP.

No.  You act as if you know people better than they know themselves.  I have biblically-based convictions, and I actually live by them.  I told myself in the last election that if I didn't like Romney, I would not compromise and vote for whatever lame excuse of a candidate the GOP tossed out, and I did not.  I have actually done that for a couple of presidential elections now.  I voted for someone else, and I know others that did as well.  It does not matter if the numbers of those people was large or not.  It does not matter what the eventual outcome of the election was.  What matters is that these people did not compromise their values to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I am glad to hear it, I am the same way.  But the fact of the matter is we are a very small minority.   I don't have to know the voters, I just have to know the outcome of the election.  And sadly the "other" party candidates did worse this year than in years past.  This is because both parties have gotten so good at making the other party out to be evil and they have convinced people that a 3rd party candidate is a wasted vote.

But I do disagree about the outcome of the election not mattering, eventually we need to be able to make a difference.   Eventually we need to change the dynamics in DC or our there is no hope for our country.   If you are just voting to feel good about who you voted for, why bother to even vote.

The OP asks whether Christians are the most tolerant people in the world and all of a sudden it becomes a topic about American politics? The world is a whole lot bigger than one country out of over 200.

Hello Cobalt

 In response to your comment.

Is the general populace a part of Him?

Voting is the responsible thing to do.

Your post does not make sense.  You stated that the general populous placed Jesus on the cross.  That statement is false.  The religious leaders of the day wanted Jesus crucified, not the general populace.  Your comment did not actually deal with what I said.

I always thought we all placed Jesus on the cross.  Without our sins He would not have needed to die on the cross...

a song...

I was in the crowd the day that Jesus died

And as He hung upon that cross His mother cried

I saw the crown of thorns He wore

The stripes on His back

The water and the blood ran out

And then the sky turned black

My mind was filled with anger

My heart filled with shame

This man brought only healing

Well who could bring Him pain

Why does it seem the strong

They always victimize the weak

And suddenly I found myself

Standing to my feet

CHORUS:

And I cried

Who nailed Him there

This Child of peace and mercy

Who nailed Him there

Come and face me like a man

Who nailed Him there

And the crowd began to mock me

I cried Oh my God I just don’t understand

Then I turned and saw the hammer

In my hand!

I am just a Roman soldier

An ordinary man

I love my wife and children

I do the best I can

But how could I have killed Him

There must be someone else

I got to find an answer

I can’t blame myself

CHORUS

I nailed Him there

This Child of peace and mercy

I nailed Him there

I am the guilty man

I nailed Him there

With my sins and my transgressions

I cried Oh my God now I understand

When I turned and saw that hammer…

In my hand!

I would lean toward indifferent.

I think your right pat.  I just discovered that my nice little desert town now has two XXX rated bookstores.  When I called my Christian friend she seemed totally indifferent to it.  I on the other hand am outraged.  Not sure how I'm going to about this or how to start, but If I had my way these bookstores and their owners would be zoned not only out of our town but off the globe.

Hello J.D.

Striking words in that song.

I also enjoy music so let me cite a couple of lines from a song that I know.

He could have called ten thousand angels

To destroy the world and set Him free

   ~

   But He chose to die

   For you and me

In God's great economy He was manifesting His attribute of redeemer.

When accepting the atonement, in His provided way, we are blessed beyond measure.

To reject His atonement we crucify him a second time, in our lives and then we must suffer the consequences.

The fall did not take God by surprise but it is working out just right and God will be glorified.

Our sins are the reason He went to the cross but it is all part of His great plan.

God bless.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
