Helicopters aren't typically used for surveillance so if they're using it for surveillance, then yes.

you make a good point.  I have to admit I really do not have an issue with local or even state police using drones in the line of duty.

 

Would have more of an issue with it if the Feds were doing it.    but even this I am not sure I have a problem with.  A good friend of mine is a DEA agent and has been for 20 plus years.   He says drones could do much to save lives of the agents.

A lot of more conservative municipalities and possibly even states will probably end up banning their use outright. I tend to think that it's probably going to mainly be the federal government and larger cities that employ them the most (new york, chicago, etc). There will eventually be a constitutional fight over it, though.

Well, conservative states are probably going to argue that it's jurisdictional or unwarranted surveillance and goes against right of privacy.

My issue with them, isnt what they want to use them for know persay-I can see where they can be extremely beneficial to law enforcement, and for Search and rescue. If a local police force were to use one to say, find a lost hiker, or track down a pedofile on the loose, I wouldn't have an issue with them. But trusting these things to the feds-who have a history of abusing power, I do have an issue with-especially if theyre up 24/7 spying on me all the time. We already hear about stupid stuff like people getting kicked out of school for praying-this gives the government the ability to regulate you in your own back yard, and I quite frankly, don't need that.

I can't' say I support the drones, but in this case I have to side with the federal law.

 

1. The drones are government property.

 

2. There risk of injury is genuine.
