Today I was watching a video about a group in  south korea. They are trying to be the next psy. Five girls and they are not dressed racy, dont do the kinds of things lady gaga or miley do, but they are highly popular in asia. Miley and others could take a lesson from them. And from taylor swift and a few other big stars who do not get all raunchy like that.

... I think of itwhen I see the kind of lifestyle that screams Hollywood or similar and then they try to tell everyone they are also a Christian.

The Hollywood culture is hard to break free of.

I know a Christian reporter who had interviewed people in the Hollywood industry who are Christians. Knowing the things they involve themselves in shocks you that they are church-going Christians! But then you hear about what they are up against, what they have to deal with, and the whole works, it's no wonder they've gotten lost in the fog.

That said, how much of the same compromising are we allowing in our churches? For example, pay attention to how the female teens and college-age young women are dressing to church. It may not apply to your church particularly, but I've seen a lot of outfits on Christian girls that indicate they are clueless on the matter, or are trying to fit in to culture. Most certainly, they are not being instructed by their churches on the value of breaking free from the sexual culture just in how they dress.

It's easy to focus on the plank in the eye of the Cyrus family. But didn't Jesus tell us to examine our own eyes first? He doesn't want us condemning sinners. He wants us spreading life. Despising Billy Ray and his wife and their daughter gets you where? They are symptoms of problems, much like our own broken lives. They just happen to be out there for the whole world to see, unlike us.

Very cool!

(Although I do not know what "psy" is?)

We went to a church in FL (briefly) that pretty much allowed anything goes...they were huge...I think smaller is better.,..for the personal touch?

Well I'm not focusing on Miley...but I know whatyou mean...hers is just the latest 'shocker'...on FOX this am they had Maria Menounus to 'comment' on the Miley performance...her

opinion seemed neutral at best and blasé at worst...then she got to the real subject at hand...her interest in wrestling and Miley was forgotten in, I suspect, the real reason for

her appearance...a plug for own activities.

Me first, has graduated to put ME (insert celebrity name) first in YOUR life too

I hope I made it clear I don't despise anyone?  I find it tragic and it sickens me and there is no hope apart from God

That, is why I have been commenting in some of the threads that have become heated with regards to breastfeeding and Immodesty...women constantly get blamed for men's actions

and yet it really is a matter of both being fed from the media and the seeming inability to take responsibility for one's own actions...whether in church or outside of church.

You do have to get up in the morning and dress yourself...there are no accidental wardrobe casualties out there...but I am very tired of women bashing other women.

Women never seem to have got over thinking the way to 'snare' a man is to advertise yourself like a bulletin board for the latest sex scandal...speaking generally...don't take

that comment literally...I certainly don't think that way and never have, but women bashing other women seems to be a side effect of dressing provocatively.  It's a

competition of sorts  with a man as the booby prize  (not trying to offend men here, but TV, movies, media etc certainly seem to offer that scenario)

ps:  and then there is the thread GE just started.....Culture's War on Women

Are we kidding ourselves if we think that we, collectively as women (not meaning believers) hold more value now then say, 200 years ago?  I'm not so sure

I Weep for Miley

Picking up a sub sandwich today, I saw a news report on CNN about Miley Cyrus’ performance at last night’s VMA’s. I was shocked, then sickened, then saddened.

For the rest of the day, I wondered:

What kind of people are we?

What kind of culture have we created?

What do we want our children to be?

No more wondering. Tonight, I weep.

Read the rest here

I confess I didn't watch the video or see the MVA show. But I have read article about it and seen glimpses of pictures of what occurred.

I remember my youngest sister liking to watch Miley Cyrus.

I just think to myself that is someone's daughter. That is someone's grandaughter. :noidea:

I've noticed the pattern that especially these young stars (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, and Justin Timberlake all come to mind) who start out with Disney have to prove themselves by being racey in order to become popular. I think that says something about the American Pop culture.

It's sad. :sad030:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
