What does obesity mean to you?Do you look at someone who is obese and reject them?Or do you look deeper into the person? Some men loath heavy women while some men like them.Their are so many more heavy people in our society today.Do you think all people who are obese eat alot?Do you think it could involve mental illnesses?

I believe the increase in obesity can be connected to the increase in technology.

If by that you mean "How many fries can I eat in front of the TV?", I would tend to agree.

What does obesity mean to me ..well I see like this..you get plump. then fat, then obese.  I have never rejected anyone who is obese because one never knows why that person is like that. They could have health issues which have contributed to their obesity, it could also be  a mental issue.
I would say that most obese people just eat too much,  again there are many reasons why people overeat..for some its comforting, some are simply gluttons.
Gluttony is a sin but how often if ever have you this coming from the pulpit?? very seldom if ever.  I wonder why..perhaps the pews might become a little too empty the following week.
I must confess that whenever I see an obese person in the supermarket or having a meal somewhere I have had some really unkind thoughts going through my head.

Yes,I have seen people who were stick thin and then they go on a particular medication and they can gain over 100 lbs.It can totally change your metabolism.I have seen a person eat three times what I can eat and they are skinny as a pole.Metabolism plays a very important part of it.A woman can go into menapause and OOPS there goes the metabolism. My wedding dress was a size 4 and believe me I could not get into it now. :mgcheerful:

Obesity seems to be an American problem these days.  Excluding medical and metabolic reasons,  this will not sit well with some, but I think many obese people that I have seen with fat buldging  out on their sides, thighs, arms, etc. are just lazy and addicted to eating with poor nutrition habits who are bored  and have nothing to do.  I personally know people who do this and I  have seen these type of people at Country Buffet Cafeterias who load up their plates and return for a second round plus dessert afterwards.

The FDA and people in the medical profession are gaining ground in blaming everything on mental illness such as alcholism, drug addiction, smoking, etc.  rather than holding people accountable for their own self-destructive bad habits.

In a society such as America, where food is plentiful and people never have to go hungry, people are eating themselves to death

Yes,many have your opinion of the obese "are just lazy and addicted to eating".I am sorry that you have that opinion because it is somewhat of a judgmental opinion.I am compassionate to all of those who are burdened with being over weight.I think that is the way Jesus would want us to look at it.I am sure if you were suddenly put in the position of having 150lbs or more put on you you would look at the situation in a whole different way.

Matthew 7:1-2“Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

^This^

That is so true too! And again how deceiving when it comes to being gluttonous. I mean, my husband can put away food, he is typically highly active from 4 am in the morning till he comes home in the evening (around 6:30- 7:00 Pm). His old friend in PA (Eddy) could out eat my husband by three times. If my husband had two burgers Eddy could double that and he is a string bean (for size) more then one half my own husbands weight.

And he could do that again and again (always having room for more) and no one would ever think to suggest he is gluttonous (judging by his flesh).

Whereas my mom is on prednisone, and has gained 50 pounds on her small frame, and that come upon her through being prescription. And my mom eats like a bird (I know she does) and someone might judge her for eating too much. She looks so uncomfortable too, cant believe that's my mom actually. But theres nothing she can seem to do about this.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
