You reiterated what I was saying, Jade. If we are only to talk about Jesus and edifying things, than lets apply that across the board. How is glorifying professional sports edifying and lifting up Christ? IMO, professional sports should be denounced, not glorified. However, I don't insist that that forum be removed, or the people silenced, because I don't agree with it. I simply concede to their right to it, and leave it at that.

One can't be chased out of here by anyone else. We are adults who make our own choices. If one can't stand those threads, then they needn't ever go into that forum.

I totally agree with you about the America-haters, or the silly conspiracy stuff. I have no use for that garbage either. But those people have the same freedom to speak as we do. There are threads naming people, calling them names, making fun of democrats, making fun of anyone and anything on the left, and they are perfectly acceptable, even winked at. The same freedoms should be available to all, no matter how repugnant some of the blather is. Because we (Christians) are slowly losing our rights and being silenced in this country. Pastors are being told they can not say things from the pulpit. Christians are being told they can not wear certain things. All mention of God is slowly being removed from history books, and even the Declaration of Independance is now being denied some students because of it's mention of God. Our thoughts and actions are becoming illegal under a guise of "hate legislation". There will come a time when speaking up for Christ and God's Word will be illegal. If we do the same thing, we are guilty of the same evil. We must protect free speech at all costs - lest we lose ours.

JMO. Thank you for your thoughts. :noidea:

I too get tired of stupidity, willing ignorance and treason. I respond. Sometimes the Moderators delete, sometimes they don't. I don't have to agree with the Moderators every time.....

Come on folks! Cut them some slack. It is a very tasking job to try to maintain a modicum of civility and still allow for spirited discussion between the intelligent, righteous, morally & intellectually superior persons, and those who disagree with me!

This is not about silencing a particular subject because we find it disagreeable it is about stopping issues that are unprofitable to the Body of Christ. There is just no comparison between discussing which ball team you would like to see make it to the playoffs and accusing a sitting President of treason against his country. There is no comparing the sharing of a pumpkin pie recipe with insinuating that a sitting President of the United states conspired to slaughter 3,000 citizens so he can wage a mulit-billion dollar war on another country, all so that he and his rich buddies can get their hands on their oil. Talking about professional sports and calling the President a war criminal are apples and oranges, WIP.

This is not a freedom of speech issue. It's a building up the Body of Christ issue. It's a preaching Christ to an unsaved world issue.

If you're worried about your right to preach the gospel then the only solution is to preach the gospel. If you are worried about your right to take a Bible to class, then preach the gospel. If you are concerned about the word of God being legislated out of our society then preach the gospel. There is only one solution to all of our problems as a nation. That solution is a Person - a wonderful Person. His name is Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must preach the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the unique solution to every problem.

WIP, the difference between the sports threads and the war threads is that the sports threads, and any others that do not specifically refer to Jesus is that they are not dividing in nature.

No one is posting insults, questioning ones Walk in Christ or accusing them of being blind to worldly matters if they don't agree with the fact that the 2004 Red Sox are the greatest baseball team ever to grace a diamond. ( :noidea: )

No one is screaming bloody murder and treason in the members map thread.

It seems to be the war threads, and the now defunct election threads that caused most of the undesirable attention. I've seen many of the war threads stay open for months, and get pretty heated too, but as soon as people are insulted, on either side, they usually get closed. And with good reason. Like any other thread of any topic, once they descend into verbal bashing and become worthless, they are pruned. That's why I posted my thing yesterday on the most recently closed thread. It wasn't that I disagreed with anyone, it was simply that people were starting to leave the realm of civil debate, and move towards "you're an idiot" mode.

Christian Soldier, I hope I shed a little light on your original question also.

Brother, you just keep doing what you do. Most of the country is behind you, in Prayer and in deed. If you have to go back, keep your head down and your Faith on point. Bless you. There is no effort to allow only the dissenters of the war to have a voice on Worthy. In fact, I would have to say it's very much the opposite. What ever impression you may have of the mods here, the truth is that they are very much in support of the effort to rid the world of the terrorist threat. I have been guilty many times of shooting someone down as a misinformed idiot when they spoke out of their backsides in some of the war stuff. I just got back in May, myself. But, and I'm thankful for it, someone has always been there for me to let me know if I was using the wrong words to describe the feelings I had toward someone that gets his war information from watching Rambo movies, rather than going themselves. It's something I'm working on. Failing, at times, but I'm working on it.

There have been many times where I had to stop myself in mid post and really think of what I was saying, before I actually hit the submit post button.

Brother, Most times now I stay out of them threads. The truth is, no one is going to change their mind about where they stand. I tried, at first to defend every thing I stood for, in every thread, but it makes no difference in the long run. People are going to read about, and believe what ever fits their own opinions.

Just know that I support not only what you are doing over there, but we, as a nation are doing also.

We have come to a point again, where we all have to be Praying about what we post. Sometimes we don't even realize that we are hurting others when we say certain things, but it happens none the less.

Be Praying, brethren. Be Praying hard.

All of this too, will pass.

Blessings,

t.

Dear Eadora -

May I share a lesson I learned?

One day back in the mid-late '90's, while Clinton was still president, I was driving to work, and I saw a bumper sticker that said:

"Jack Kavorkian* for White House Chief Medical Doctor"

(*The doctor who "assists" suicides.)

I started laughing.

But the Holy Spirit convicted me - "That's murder!"

I stopped laughing.

Fast forward in time to a small group church fellowship night. We were spending time together in prayer. At one point we haphazardly prayed for Pres. Clinton.

But one man felt strongly impressed by the Lord that our prayers were as brass - for our criticisms of him were blocking any prayers we prayed for him from getting through. If we wanted Pres. Clinton to have a change of heart, we needed to repent of slandering him.

Not everyone in the group was willing to believe we had been sinning in the first place - Pres. Clinton deserved every bit of it after all!

After my experience with the bumper sticker - I knew better.

But what would have happened had we as Christians stopped speaking evil of Clinton and instead prayed out of broken hearts for him? Might he have repented of his own sin and become a truly godly leader?

*********************************************************

And this is the difference.

The Bible is very clear - we need to pray for our leaders. We need to submit to our authorities and bless - not curse - them.

These degrading threads - whether truth or lies - go against the commands of Scripture to "pray for those in authority" and "to bless them."

*************************************************************

So, what is more important to you - to humble yourself so your prayers for our leaders will be unhindered in hopes that they will be saved -

or to have your "right" to voice your beliefs of how bad they are?

*************************************************************

And this goes for both sides - we Conservatives / Republicans do need to quit the slander and such against the Liberals / Democrats for our prayers to be unhindered.

Actually I didnt reiterate them. Please read my comments again. I am glad those threads are gone. I feel that the sports and ladies forums are different in that they are not hostile as the conspiracy and anti america threads are. Fellowship can include sports talk and ladies talk. Fellowship (in my opinion) doesnt include continual rants about how rotten my country is. That is draining, not uplifting.

Eudora, I didn't call you anything.

Ted, thank you for your comments. I appreciate them. The reason you gave for why those threads "should not be here" is different then the previous reasons given.

I believe my point about the wordly filth and corruption of professional sports and the "heros" of them being glorifed here was a valid one, as far as the "edifying" reason goes.

And I continue to stand firm on my beliefs on our sacred freedoms.

Thanks again for your comments.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
