Blessings Judas....

You are quite welcome and you seem so sincere & very candid, with a teachable spirit that is willing & ready to 'receive".......Judas ,as  long as you are committed to Jesus ,yearning & seeking  that deeper ,more intimate relationship with God.......you will have it!And by all means never take a seat of "They cannot teach ME anything"...it can be truly amazing how & who through ,the Holy Spirit will teach us at different times.

One Light has shared with you Gods Absolute Truth, Jesus' true "church" is comprised of individuals,,,,the life Source is not in "the church" ,by Jesus own Word he tells us that HE is the Way,the LIFE & the Truth,,,,,the GodHead Triune is the source but the Holy Spirit is ALIVE in each individual.......we,as individuals having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit come together by the unity of our faith in the knowledge of Christ Jesus ..this is 'the Church"......that One Body, each one dependent on the other that we be effective members of this same Body with Christ as our Head.....and by the Power of the Holy Spirit we walk in Spirit & in Truth

Colossians 2:18-19King James Version (KJV)

18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

God Bless you & be reminded........

Matthew 5:18 (KJ21) | In Context | Whole Chapter

18 For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled.

Nevertheless, since the body (church) is taught by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit teaches us scripture, how can scripture and the church be equal?

The Church is Christ's body so how can the Word be greater than the Body when both are from God. I believe that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one God in three person. All equal and divine and one God. So how can the Word be more than the Church. How can one person of God be more than any of the others?

Can you name a few churches and pastors that run them that are more than the Word?

Fez,

I have never said anything was more than the Word. My argument is that BOTH are needed. It's scripture AND the Church.

Yes, but the problem is that you can't have two authorities of equal weight.  The Bible is infallible, the Church is not.  And if I might ask in what way specifically is the Church needed authoritatively in relation to Scripture?

The Church and Scripture are two different things. They serve two different purposes, I demonstrated that with the example of the canon. It was not scripture that determined what was scripture it took the Church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to determine what books would be considered inspired.

That is not wholly accurate.  The Church did not determine would be considered inspired.  The Church recognized the inspired canon.  The Church did not dictate which books would or would not be considered inspired.

My phrasing was a bit sloppy so I apologize. The Church through the guidance of the Holy Spirit determined/recognized which books where inspired and which ones were not.

You can use the word determined or recognized inter changeable here I think.

No, you can't.   If we say that the church determined the canon, then we are saying that the church sat in judgment on it and decided which books belonged in the canon.

When we say that the Church recognized the canon.  It means that the inspired nature of the books were already known and the Church simply acknowledged that fact.

Really this discussion is going to come down to a word.

I think we've come down to semantics now.

It's the determination of the Church to recognize the 27 books of the New Testament as the canon of scripture.

Regardless how you phrase it, it was the Church being guided by the Holy Spirit and it was NOT scripture that gave us the canon. No where in scripture will you find a list of the canon. Therefore the Church exercised its authority to close the canon.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
