Prayer Group to Sue BBC for Blasphemy

Actually amor, if you had been pay ANY attention, (and you obviously weren't), Christians have been highly critical of Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar.  Books have been written and just a google search will show you plenty of Christian criticism of their teachings.

However, (and I don't expect a secularist like yourself to be smart enough to know the difference),  depictiing Jesus as a homosexual drag queen is far worse than anything Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar have done.

Why is it that you ALWAYS defend the lowest common denomenator?  All you do is continue to show your ignorance.

Firstly, I did actually see Jerry Springer the Opera" and Jesus wasn't depicted as a "homosexual drag queen", so your comparison is irrelevant. Secondly, Dollar and Hinn are broadcast on self-styled Christian stations, yet they have not met the same kind reaction from these "Christian" millitant groups as has the BBC, which is not a Chritian station. Thirdly my commitment to secularism comes from my faith as a member of a minority Christian group, (the Quakers).I don't want the practice of my faith or the faith or non-faith of others being limited as a result of the power of more powerful religious groups. Quakers in the past have been murdered by religious regimes - both in puritan new England and Catholic Spain, and persecuted by both Episcopalian and Presbyterian governments in 17, 18, and 19 century England in all cases because we were declared heretics and blasphemers. Religious bigotry and chicanery is alive, well, and powerful today, if you don't believe me go to Iran, Israel Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland, and even in your or my backyard as a uaker I criticise those bigots rather than silence those who seek to question it.

To place hatred for Jesus at the feet of Benny Hinn is really far fetched. Where was Benny Hinn when they nailed Him to the Cross?

Was Creflo A Dollar preaching at the time? Yet there were men making money in the Temple and names for themselves. Who hated Him as well. Still and all He the Lord of Life and Light laid down His Life for them and all who will.

Okay so He's not depicted as a Homosexual Drag Queen? Yet every review I can find has Him dressed in a diaper singing to satan that He's a little bit gay? Still a Gross misrepresentation.

So is it okay to dress Jesus in a Diaper ,Overweight and singing ,'I'm a little bit Gay"?

Not to mention that the language is excessive and the swear words at one count exceed 8,000 repetitions?

That is not the principle problem. The problem arose when sensible people turned on the BBC in their own homes. They then were shocked when they saw this filth in their own living rooms.

That is the problem in a nutshell. It wan't Christian Bigots(your words) nor were they Thugs(again your words). They were ordinary people who call themselves Christian who have had just about enough of this Tripe. It is a sad state of affairs when people Christian in name have to be shocked awake.

Those who made threats should be dealt with. To indict sincere believers simply because of a few bad apples is a mistake. To indict Christianity on the basis of your perception of Benny Hinn is a mistake as well. To say that this depiction of Christ is appropriate because of Creflo A. Dollar is downright silly.

well, I have not seen the show or the movie and am not likely to. However when people ask me about it I tell them that Jesus beat the devil the last time hanging naked on a cross, so my guess is that it wouldn't be any different wearing a diaper. It usually shuts them up pretty quick.

This is all things that just have to be and it will get much worse so we must just deal with it mentally and spiritually.

Oh it is perfictaly proper and very ok to raise all kinds of hell over it too, but don't do that until you have a spiritual handle on what's going on or you'll be ineffective. If you can think of anything we can do over here let me know what.

Except that the vast majority of complaints were received before the broadcast, so they could hardly have been motivated by what the saw on the box. The campaign of intimidation against BBC employees and their families resulted from the publication of their home addresses and telephone numbers on the website of "Christianvoice" one of the main organisations campaigning against the programme. What other purpose than intimidation did that serve, the executives involved all have work addresses, phone numbers and E-mail addresses that could have been easily found, had people wanted to make direct complaints.

As to Hinn and Dollar, my complaint was they broadcast freely and Christians make no public complaint, or critique despite the fact that they use Chritianity as a means of personal enrichment, delude their followers and preach doctrines that seem to me to have little to do with the teachings of Christ.
