I was surfing the web and I came across the last, dying words of some famous atheists.

Read on.....it's chilling.

Thomas Hobbs: --- "I say again, if I had the whole world at my disposal, I would give it to live one day! I am about to take a leap into the dark!"

Edward Gibbon: --- "All is lost, finally, irrevocable lost. All is dark and doubtful!"

Thomas Payne: --- "Stay with me, for God's sake; I cannot bear to be left alone...O Lord, help me! O God, what have I done to suffer so much? What will become of me hereafter? My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? I would give worlds, if I had them, if The Age of Reason had never been published!"

Honore Gabriel Raqueti Mirabeau: --- "My sufferings are intolerable; I have within me a hundred years of life but not a moment's courage. Give me more laudanum (mixture containing opium) that I may not think of eternity and what is to come!"

Sir Thomas Scott: --- "Until this moment I thought there was neither a God nor a hell. Now I know and feel that there are both, and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty!"

Voltaire: --- "I am abandoned by God and man; I will give you half of what I am worth if you will give me six months' life." (He said this to Dr. Fochin, who told him it could not be done.) "Then I shall die and go to hell!"

Sir Francis Newport: --- "Oh, the insufferable pangs of hell! Oh, eternity forever and forever!"

Charles Churchill: --- "What a fool I have been!"

**********************************

It is just so very sad. What a terrible thing it is to die without Christ.

warm regards

Amazing how all of their lives they denied that God existed until death was standing at their beds. :glare:

This is just my opinion. You don't have to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

Yes, how sad it is to live your life in a rational manner, only to allow fear of the unknown overcome it in the last moments. I guess if these are true, they are not TRUE atheists... :glare:

Hi UF,

I just wanted to say, if we Christians are wrong, we lose nothing at death. At least we went to our graves with hope.

But if we are right, we gain joy everlasting.

If you are right, you also lose nothing.

But if you are wrong, you lose everything.

warm regards

Yes these words are chilling. I agree with my brother bud, if we go to our graves as believers and find there is nothing we loose nothing. But on the other hand if it is all true then we gain eternal life with Christ and the unbeliever looses everything. I have often wondered what Madalian Murray O'Hare's (the atheist who had prayer removed from schools in the mid 60's) what her last thoughts were before death. She was kidnapped along with some atheist family members and murdered. It there was no repentance before death then she surely knows now there is a God. How sad, it's to late.

Dear Budman, Rustyangel, refugepsa91, and shiloh357,

This is just my opinion. You don't have to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

Thank you for your similar responses. You all brought up what is traditional called Pascal's wager. However, there is a large problem with your argument. Some of them are:

1) If the christian god is not the real god, christians would not get their reward, and would probably be punished to a greater extent for worshipping the incorrect god. Whereas the atheist, who does not worship any god would get better treatment at least for not worshipping the incorrect god.

With over 10,000 gods from which to choose, I think it is the believers who choose only one that are gambling.

2) Imagine a god that in omniscient who knows that some believers only believe for fear of the afterlife. What do you think such a god would do to these "believers?" Is it so easy to game the system?

For those of you who have more of a mathematical. logical and scientific bent, please refer to:

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/pascal-wager/

This site give the complete debunking of the argument.

I have often wondered what Madalian Murray O'Hare's (the atheist who had prayer removed from schools in the mid 60's) what her last thoughts were before death. Dear Rustyangel,

I don't know what a person thinks just before they die. I hope most people meet death in a dignified way that honors the deeds of their life.

I think it a shameful act to kidnap and murder fellow human beings, regardless of their beliefs or disbeliefs. I am saddened that somebody kidnapped and killed another because of difference in belief/disbelief. It is an example of very bad behaviour that was probable fueled by the murderer's beliefs.

I sincerely hope that you will join me in condemning such barbarous behaviour to fellow humans regardless of their beliefs/disbeliefs.

Regards,

I used to be just like you Undecided that it made me smile when I read your argument. You say that atheists would be treated better off than one's that worship false gods. In my studies, I have found in fact that there is no discrimination between the treatment of atheists and false worshippers. This is for all religions with the concept of heaven and hell. There are only two categories, believers and nonbelievers. I hope one day you will fit into the first one.

As for those believers who believe only because of the afterlife. Well it seems to me that these atheists up top only began to believe because they feared. If they truly are believers they have nothing to fear. For they know they are saved and God will never allow Satan to touch their souls.

You mention there are over 10,000 gods to choose from. Atheists would say there are inconsistencies and contradictions in the Bible. Yet I tell you now, those people have never read the Bible cover to cover. They probably have never read past 3 verses. Our God is consistent and to be honest I find he is the only consistent God. This level of consistency between thousands of years has led some to believe the Bible was written by one person and one time. Well we know thats not true. I could go on forever with this subject so I'll let you think about the consistency aspect.

As for those who kill in the name of religion, they are terrorists. Whether you are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or any other, you are a terrorist. The shedding of innocent blood is always a sin and God will turn his back on what you claim to do in his name. There is no way to sin for the Lord.

Hi UF,

What you read in the OP is just what the bible says will happen to the ungodly.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
