Flesh is lower than Spirit

Psalms 8:5
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

As is stated

2 Peter 2:11
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

Angels can even appear as flesh

Hebrews 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Which is not the same nature as spirit

Hebrews 2:16
For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

The resurrected will not only be as the angels

Mark 12:25
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

The resurrected will be equal to the angels

Luke 20:36
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

And if equal, we become the SAME.

1 Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

It is this simple .. God only created TWO types of creatures ..

One group is made up of flesh : Humans & all other living animals in the material (corruptible) realm.

Corruptible means finite, being in a state of decline leading to death which is confirmed by the most concrete, observable and testable law / fact being established and non contestable ruling over the laws of the material realm

The other is made up of spirit (God & His Son & the angels).

Incorruptible means eternal and not subject to the laws of the material realm. To exist in this realm, one must inherit the attributes of said realm to be subject to said realms governing laws .. being .. eternal and non corruptible .. whose primary attribute is SPIRIT.

Any other condition is merely the product of men's imaginations and not scripturally sound nor reliable.

Flesh or Spirit .. Mortal or immortal .. period.

Two types of being.

So very simple.

God bless.

How can we be the same...if we judge them?

Luke 20:36 is comparing the Immortality of Angels and the Resurrected as on equal footing.  Most likely referring to the Spiritual Bodies that we will possess.

Or are you just emphasizing the Physical Likeness and not any Hierarchical Structure?

Thank you OneLight for the advice. I'm always careful of what I accept as truth and I always consider the source and compare everything I consider to be worthy of acceptance to Gods word. But I do appreciate your concern. Thank you.

Greetings Qwikphilly. I can appreciate the zeal you expressed in stating Jesus is up. I like to believe that He is everywhere. The up I was referring to was from the debate post. That " God is up in heaven." I was trying to understand what up represents. Is it in relationship to the earth or just a word used to express way out there somewhere. I think it would difficult to orient what is up and down , east or west etc. In space and was asking if anyone may know what " up " is in relation to. The Earth or what. Maybe I should have clarified. But thank you for your comment.

Jesus is Lord

Just catching up after becoming stuffed as a turkey...

As to the question of wherefrom the saints will reign, (one of the) heaven(s) or earth...why not both? (According to the Hebraic sages, each level of heaven has its own throne.)

There is no reason to believe that some of us will not have the same ability to come and go from heaven like Jesus did and will. Whether or not a resurrected one does so, or not, is more likely to be a matter of calling and choice, rather than a lack of ability.

As to the state of our resurrected body as compared to angels: ours will be superior, because angels never became incarnate by nature. The physical bodies the ministering angels occasionally took, and those of the fallen angels who intermarried with humans, were akin to garments; rather than being part of their created nature, like the bodies of the children of Adam.

Hebr 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Only the children of Adam were given dominion over the earth, the one place wherein souls are able to incarnate. This is both a greater honor, and a greater responsibility, than any given to the ministering spirits, regardless of their initially greater power. A greater responsibility implies a greater potential reward.

Hi Enoch,

I'm not speaking of hierarchial structure but that the resurrected will be the same as the angels physically (spirit creatures) .. in reply to bopeep's statement.

God bless.

Hi One Light,

I'd like to know how many people believe there will be both a spiritual & a physical side to the millennial kingdom ..

Cheers.

great post! I'm not sure why more Christians don't understand that the blink of an eye transformation makes us like the angels, spiritual beings that will be just as mysterious as the angels are intodays world, ministering to those who will inherit salvation, while God finishes the prophecies that we see plainly in scripture

Hi William L,

As to the question of wherefrom the saints will reign, (one of the) heaven(s) or earth...why not both? (According to the Hebraic sages, each level of heaven has its own throne.)

I believe the saints will reign on the earth for the millennium period because of this : Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

There is no reason to believe that some of us will not have the same ability to come and go from heaven like Jesus did and will. Whether or not a resurrected one does so, or not, is more likely to be a matter of calling and choice, rather than a lack of ability.

Yes I've thought on that too .. there is no reason it can't happen .. only some personal opinions as to why it might not happen .. wiiiith .. leanings towards it still probably will.

Hmm .. I'd disagree here.

Scripture does say : Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

I do not believe the "equal" declaration is merely to do with not dying anymore (like the angels) argument, I believe the saints will be given varying abilities just like the angels obviously have, some greater than others .. by God's choice of course.

Remember this parable :  Matthew 20:12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

Just imagine for a moment .. imagine an angel complaining and saying those words .. (he wouldn't of course, this is just for arguments sake) ..

Could you imagine any reason why our imaginary angel would almost be excused for grumbling those words?

I could ..

Imagine being a holy angel having to witness all the death and suffering .. seeing beloved human brethren oppressed & killed .. having to stand by and watch over and over for the last 2000 odd years as the wicked over and over have their way with the beloved human brethren (speaking percentages here .. God is still the decision maker as to who & when & "what"  happens to His saints whilst in this wicked world of course) .. imagine the strength needed to "stand down" and watch a beloved human brethren be tortured and killed when as an angel, the power to act is available .. but yet .. restrained .. that would be very hard from a human perspective not to intervene .. and the angels do have emotions still .. even Jesus cried before raising Lazarus!

So with that in mind,  I can not agree with all of the below either :

Only the children of Adam were given dominion over the earth, the one place wherein souls are able to incarnate. This is both a greater honor, and a greater responsibility, than any given to the ministering spirits, regardless of their initially greater power. A greater responsibility implies a greater potential reward.

But the angels have great responsibilities too .. they are working too .. how much sorrow and grief they must be witness to that we only read about in the news (if at all) .. we shouldn't compare who has the greater responsibility when none of us humans have even seen a millionth of what the angels have had to see and accept, in my opinion.

Though I do agree with greater potential rewards .. just as one star differs from another in glory .. and angels too having differing abilities .. some greater .. some less .. I have no problem with that .. just like :

Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

That was just off the top of my head .. there are more of course ..

God bless.

Thanks seandavid,

Well, I understand where you're coming from, but as you'd know, many are just taught otherwise , or love & respect someone or something too much to go against their beliefs .. or are happy with letting someone else teach them what to think and believe (spiritual laziness) .. and some might be scared of getting kicked out churches or shunned by brethren etc etc ..

But at the same time .. many are probably thinking the same about our understanding on this .. lol .. one day we will all see eye to eye .. until then .. there is a battle going on that's for sure.

God bless.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
