No it's not. I have a very dear friend who's husband is in a hospital right now waiting for a heart. He is on an artificial heart and that is the only thing keeping him alive. Organ donations are a miracle. As for blood transfusions I wouldn't be here if that wasn't possible.

THANKS RUSTY, I FEEL THAT GOD HAS GIVEN MAN THIS KNOWLEDGE AND IF I GIVE BLOOD OR WHEN I DIE SOMEONE GETS AN ORGAN OF MINE, THEIR LIFE IS PROLONGED....IF THEY ARE NOT SAVED THEN THEY MAY LIVE ANOTHER DAY TO HAVE A CHANCE TO ACCEPT CHRIST......IF THEY ARE SAVED AND THEIR LIFE IS PROLONGED TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY TO PREACH THE WORD OF GOD....I SEE IT AS GIVING BACK LIFE.....LIFE WAS GIVEN TO ME BY GOD SO WHY NOT GIVE IT BACK IF I HAVE THE CHANCE. I BELIEVE ALL LIFE COMES FROM GOD NO MATTER HOW IT COMES ABOUT....I DO FEEL SCIENCE HAS GONE TOO FAR ON SOME THINGS BUT NOT THIS ONE. I SEE IT THAT IF I GIVE BLOOD AND DONATE ORGANS THEN I AM SOWING SEEDS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD...AFTER ALL IT IS FOR HIS GLORY NOT MINE...IT IS ALL ABOUT CHRIST NOT ME....IN MY OPINION IF ONE PERSONS LIFE IS PROLONGED AND THAT PERSON LIVED ANOTHER DAY AND ACCEPTED CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOR...IT IS WORTH IT TO ME TO GIVE BACK TO THE LORD THE SAME THING HE GAVE TO ME...LIFE AND SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD....BUT IF IT IS A SIN THEN I WANT TO KNOW. THANKS CLOE

Hi Cloe.

Neither organ donations nor blood donations are forbidden in the Bible.

Could you do us a favor, though? Typing in caps is generally considered rude in the forums. Could you turn your caps lock off?

WHADDYAMEAN BY THAT!!! :cool::cool:

I cannot find in Scripture anything which would make me believe it is a sin. I was a non-Christian young teen in 1968, when Dr. Christian Bernard performed the first heart transplant in South Africa. I recall at the time thinking with my scientifically trained mind what a grand future it portended; that people could have 'spare parts'! What a high acheivement mankind had attained.

Now many years later, and conversion experience away from that initial blush of excitement, I must say I am somewhat more conflicted. Secular science may view man through the intellectual lens of L'homme Machine, but this certainly makes man less than who the Scriptures teach us man is. In fact, one could say that the materialist view takes man from a 'who' and makes him merely a 'what.' Most pointedly I see it everyday displayed in our careless speech when we talk about 'people THAT.....' instead of 'people WHO....' This unguarded disrespect for the human qua the human, is a surprising thing to see in the everyday language of those who profess that their fellows are impressed with the imago dei!

Even so, to treat people like mechanical devices--complete with interchangable parts--strikes me as most debilitating to a high and lofty concept of the human being.

But then, these are the random thoughts of quite an old crank!

If I am dead, I already know God will give me a glorified body like Christ's own body.

It is an honor and privilege to know that if any part of me...be it my eyes, heart, liver, kidneys, skin or other tissue can save the life of a dying child or someone's beloved father, mother, sister or brother...PLEASE, take every square inch of my physical body and use it to the good of others.

Jesus takes it even further: No greater love has any man than to lay down his own life for his brother.

So, if you really want to take it to the limit, consider the sacrifice of His own body and blood Jesus made to save us? Yes, it was spiritual salvation but to lay down ones' life for another is a righteous and noble act.

I was eager to sign my organ donor card and eager to know that maybe my body can help another man, woman or child have life when mine is over.

In like manner, I would pray that God grant me the courage to take the bullet for another person in harm's way or be brave enough to lose my life to save another, and willingly sacrifice my own life to save theirs.

How much easier to give my life saving organs when I'm already departed?

Well, I can't give blood (some weird form of spinal meningitis when I was young) and I am not sure I should donate organs so I have not (will not I guess I should say) but I don't think there is anything at all wrong with it. I was told I coud kill someone by donating so I don't......

If God can bring back people from the ocean, I am sure he can sort out all the body parts if it is even necessary to do so.

se

As far as I'm concenred, these donations are an act of love and sacrifice - as we are commanded to do.

I used to give blood until I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis  (passing on harmful antibodies would be counter-productive to the purpose of giving blood). I miss being able to do that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
