What not to eat?

I'm not sure if this was covered or is relevant. There is a scripture that Jesus talking to disciples tells them its not what goes into the man that defile him its what comes out.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes, but Jesus was referring to food that had been eaten with unwashed hands. He was not talking about the dietary commandments, here.

In Pharisaical tradition, even kosher food could be made unclean if eaten with unwashed hands. THAT is what Jesus was refuting.

One just shut down after many years of service in my community.....could it be they were being investagated and decided to shut-down before **they**were caught? :noidea:

The racist comment is not appreciated. It was far out of bounds. In case you do not realize it, God loves ALL people, not just one type.

Galatians 3:28 There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Something else to consider:

Matthew 12: 33

So, I guess when porkbellies went bust in the early 80's that ws a sign from God? Brothers, farmers have been raising these animals for years for slaughter. Many were kept alive becuase of it in the Great Depression. Let a man eat what he wants. It's like smoking, if someone wants to smoke, he/she is going to smoke. Will they meet the Lord quicker? Proably. But that's their decision, not yours. By the way, I'd rather eat catfish than bass anytime, and twice on sunday. :)

No, he is saying its not what you eat as much as it is the words you use coming from the heart.

That is true. However it was the eating with unwashed hands that brought the issue up, and that is the tradition he was addressing, not the dietary commandments found in Scripture.

Reb,

Since you enjoyed that recipe so much, I thought I'd supply you with another! LOL

Bar-B-Q'd Armadillo

~ 1 armadillo

~ bacon grease

~ 1 cup butter

~ 1/2 cup ketchup

~ 1/2 cup grated onion

~ 2 tbsp mustard

~ tabasco to taste

OR

use your favorite BBQ sauce

In a sauce pan, combine the butter, ketchup, onion, mustard and tabasco. Heat over low heat until the butter is melted. Stir occasionally.

Rub bacon grease into the armadillo.

Grill over a hot fire for 5 minutes.

Reduce the fire by half.

Baste the meat with the sauce until done. Armadillo is cooked like pork.

Serve and Enjoy!

True, bbq'ing would be pretty common. Here's one last recipe to make up for it...

Mu Shu Armadillo

3/4 lb boneless armadillo tenderloin, trimmed of fat, cut into matchstick-size shreds about 1 1/2 inches long

1 1/2 tb vegetable oil

2 lg eggs, lightly beaten

4 c shredded green cabbage (1/3 small cabbage)

10 dried Chinese black mushrooms, soaked in hot water for 20 minutes, drained, stems removed, caps thinly sliced.

8 scallions, green part only, cut into 1-inch lengths

1/2 c hoisin sauce

8 Mandarin pancakes or flour tortillas, steamed

Marinade

2 1/2 tb reduced-sodium soy sauce

1 1/2 tb rice wine or sake

1 ts sesame oil

Minced Seasonings

6 cl garlic, minced

1 1/2 tb minced fresh ginger

Sauce

3 tablespoons chicken broth

2 tablespoons rice wine or sake

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Marinate armadillo: In a medium-sized bowl, combine marinade

ingredients. Add armadillo and toss lightly to coat. Cover with

plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Mix minced seasonings: In a small bowl, combine garlic and ginger; set

aside.

Make sauce: In a small bowl, combine sauce ingredients and blend

well; set aside.

Stir-fry mu shu filling: Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat,

add 1/2 tablespoon of the vegetable oil and heat until very hot. Add

the marinated armadillo and stir-fry until the meat is cooked

through, about 2 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

Cook down any remaining juices to a glaze and add to the armadillo.

Add another 1/2 tablespoon oil to the wok and heat until very hot.

Add eggs and stir-fry, scrambling them until just dry. Remove and set

aside.

Add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon oil and heat until very hot, add the

reserved minced seasoning and stir-fry until fragrant, 10 to 15

seconds. Add cabbage and mushrooms and stir-fry until tender, about 2

minutes. Pour in the reserved sauce mixture and stir constantly until

thickened, about 1 minute. Return the armadillo and eggs to the pan

and toss until heated through. Stir in scallions. Transfer to a

platter.

To serve, spread some hoisin sauce over a steamed pancake or tortilla,

spoon some of the stir-fried mixture on top, roll up and eat.

MMMMM

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
