Jesus builds his church from within believers as the head of the church. We se this in many places but Ephesians 4:15,16 show this clearly. Christ as the head works effectually in the measure of every part to make increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. The word "edifying" means to build up as a house builder. This is how Christ builds his church. The church s the body of Christ  not a man made religious building of brick and mortar.  In the turest sense no believer has ever gone to church, because we are the church. We read in scripture of "the church which meets in their house" Romans 16. Notice the church ( the word meaning ecclessia or the called out assembly) meets in the house.

But we do as Christians come together in a building, made of human hands, to worship. It may be a home, or store, or a church building...but all in the end have a hierarchy of leaders with Jesus at the head. Members of these churches are to tell others of Jesus redeeming grace spread the Gospel thus building His church.

littleambseativy

hello

ok here is it simple and clear

Jesus commanded them to meet in the upper room. That was where he wanted them to be for their meeting. He also commanded the apostles that when they find a house worthy to stay there in their work and this was teaching them to use this as a model for their future work. We see many verses that the church met in homes all through the NT.

Now the question is did they meet in homes because its waht they thought to do, just of thier own leading and mind? or was paul and other apostolic workers led to plant churches as they were led by the Spirit? if we believe that Paul was led by the Spirit and it was Christ that led him to do this then truly when he says he wanted to set in order things in churches and how they ought to behave this would have included where they meet as well.

but heres the MAIN issue

God comands this for believers

"when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." 1 Corinthians 14;26-33

then he add this verse about this order

"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant" 1 Corinthians 14:37,38

here we see that all believers are allowed to freely at any time as they wait on the Lord to share and prophecy and have revelations of anything and doctrines etc.

NOW

in the modern man made religious order in large buildings unbiblically called churches, we see this order and freedom is quenched and not allowed to happen for the most part. A one man ministry is set up and he is ususlly at the front on a altar or seat and speaks behind a pulpit. The whole form and architecture is set up in the order to allow all to look at the back of eachothers heads and see the man at the front. This form and architecture hinders the freedom of the body and mutual edification. The structure itself is not set up to allow of nurture mutual body ministry which God commands in the church. So the best place that the Spirit of God showed us for this function of the church and having a meal together is in homes. Some will say ah but we are not commanded to =do this. Well paul commended others for keeping the traditions he handed down and for the order he set by Gods leading. Also we are COMMANDED  to allow all members to minister as God leads them. This is all over the NT.1 Cor 14 12, 1 Peter 4:10,11, Romans 12 etc etc

so we are commanded to minsiter under Christ headship to eachother and if the large religious babylonian edificaes hinder this then they are fighting against Gods command. if a one man ministry over all is written in their constitutions as the ministry of the gathering then that order fights against God. if the body cannot share freely at any time as they are led in the meetings because of the state church laws and no man can speak in most places except the man exalted on a platform, then that fights against Gods order also.

And so we see the family type environment wisely shown to us through the wise maseter builder Paul and others.

peter also spoke of the freedoms of the body and said

"As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:10,11

notice that peter DID NOT say As every Pastor has received the gift only, he can speak.

Hi lovetruth,

So wonderful to drink of the living water of Christ, His truth. Thank you again. So how does Christ build His church, His body, His called out ones, the new man. He builds it (us, people) on the truth of who He is & what He is doing, His purposes. Many truths have been revealed & made clear over the years by the Holy Spirit, (guiding us into all the truth of Christ) & there is one major truth to be clarified, I believe. That truth is the eternal purposes of God for the 3 groups, the Body of Christ, Israel & the nations.

Do we have great `fights,` on salvation? or baptism? or the Holy Spirit`s infilling, or ministry giftings? These truth have been discussed & fought over in the past but yet the Body has not come to full maturity yet, till we know & understand God`s purposes. That is the `sore spot` as we all try to share & discuss our views, till eventually the truth will be known across the Body.

Marilyn.

The Lord builds His church by whomsoever believeth the gospel. From the day of Pentecost was the command to go and preach the truth of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit baptizing for the remission of sins. In that day the Lord never subscribed a any names for the saints. All were called into one body. As one has already said they met in houses having an overseer. There was no formal structure but be led of the spirit

Go to the letters to the seven churches being all were of one faith. No Catholic or Protestant. No thousands of different denotations. The church was built by the foolishness of preaching

And notice that the CHURCH is ISRAEL (given Ac.7:38;Dt. 4:10 LXX).

So we build the CHURCH (i.e., ISRAEL) by teaching Israel to do what Israel should be doing......TORAH! (Mal.4:4;Jer.31:31-33;Heb.8:8-10).

blessings...

"#Church" is arguably the most misunderstood and abused word in the English language. ("the church, Which is HIS BODY" Eph. 1:22-23) That goofy-looking building with a steeple is NOT a 'church', it is a man-exalting tradition stemming all the way back to the Tower of #Babel. "#Christ is NOT divided", #Christianity IS! (#Satan knows the rules of warfare- DIVIDE in order to conquer!) The church is Christ dispensed as the #Spirit into His believer's spirits!!! The PERFECT wife would be someone who is genetically IDENTICAL to her husband! Being identical to Him, she expresses Him perfectly, yet being a separate entity, she can RETURN His love. THIS is how the Lord is building HIS church. THIS is the PURPOSE of ALL of CREATION: that God would build (Eve being built out of Adam is a type of this) a counterpart/wife <WHO chooses to belong to HIM> for Himself for eternity future!!!

He builds up His Church inside the heart of everyone who yields to Him (2Cor 3:1-3). When we open the door of our heart for those who He brought to us, He comes in our life and have a supper with us (Rev 3:20), that is to say, make what is necessary so that we can be members of this person and vice-versa.

I think that by knowing what it is that Jesus taught—the whole Truth of God’s Word and nothing but the Truth—the Church is built—a Church that is built in His name.
