Chief Justice Roberts of the Supreme Court admitted that the ruling completely ignored the Constitution of the United States and that churches can expect that the government will penalize churches that refuse to do gay marriages.  He also admits that Obama has planned on pushing the gay agenda on churches.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. A lot of democrats value their freedom of religion too.

I am praying that this fizzles out.

The gay community wanted the right to marry because they couldn't.  Now they have it.   I wonder if it will be like the child who whines and whines and drives his parents crazy for a particular toy and when he finally gets it, he plays with it for an hour and then never gets it out again.

I don't trust Chief Justice Roberts anymore.  If Kennedy had indicated that he'd vote against gay marriage, Roberts would have been the swing vote.  I believe he is being blackmailed to support Obama's policies and is compromised.  He should be the first justice to step down after Obama leaves office.

Follow up edit:

I believe the President actually has control over 6 justices on the Supreme Court, but uses the 5-4 majority to keep Americans from rebelling.  As long as we believe that the court is divided and not stacked we won't do anything to change the status quo.  But, as we've seen, these 5-4 rulings are becoming more lopsided towards progressivism and away from liberty.

High D-Dawn, it doesn't seem like they do, because they keep voting for representatives that are hostile to their religious beliefs.

My suspicion, particularly in light of the euphoric sort of celebration that we saw going on for the past few days, is that this probably has little to do with gay marriage at all (as a specific issue), and a lot more to do with defiance of God's natural order, which, if that is the case, then we can expect continued increase of pressure on any institution that does not bow to the collective cultural will.

I believe this is a spiritual fight, not a temporal one or, more specifically, not just one having to do with some sort of legal right to marriage equality. The celebratory atmosphere of the past few days invokes images of the sorts of religious euphoria that you see described in the bible and even in extra-biblical historical sources with regards to the worship of pagan gods (think baal worship). I'm not saying that these people are specifically worshiping pagan deities, in fact, I don't think they are, but the reactions themselves, the amount of investment, the emotional release, etc., imply there being a spiritual component to this, basically a cult having been developed around these principles.

Romans 1 is invoked quite often with regards to homosexuality, but primarily to defeat the contention that it was only an "old testament sin" by more liberal minded people associated with the church. I think we are seeing quite the manifestation of the final 12 verses there though, right now, not just in our country, but in western culture in general. Without going into a long winded exegesis in a news thread, I'm going to simply address two specific areas that I think sum up the situation:

Rom 1:20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Rom 1:21  because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Rom 1:22  Professing to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23  and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

We live in a culture that has historically been heavily influenced by Christian principles, that has collectively and openly recognized the existence of God and, furthermore (for the most part) the grace that was gifted man through Jesus. At this point, presumably virtually everybody on both sides of this have at the very least heard of Jesus, the very vast majority have almost certainly been told about salvation or read about it at some point along the way. In other words, simply put, Christ is not a secret in western culture. Secular humanism has very literally been day over day replacing God as the object of worship in our culture with man (an image made like corruptible man indeed). I won't go into a tirade about the environmental lobby (who is also a huge part of all of this) elevating the value of creatures to that of humans (a crime for destruction of an eagle egg, but abort all the babies you want).

Secondly:

Rom 1:32  who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

This is a simple principle to me. It is obvious that humans are capable of all manner of sin and it is also obvious that there will always be vast numbers of people that do not know Christ. I do not think that is the only thing being addressed here though, I think there is a collective outward rejection of God's order going on and we have reached a tipping point to where the 2 percent of the population that participates in a specific, sinful behavior now have full fledged support of a very high percentage of the remainder of the population (whether that number is 60 percent or not is not really relevant, it's a lot of people, even if it's not that many). The way Romans 1:20-32 reads, to me, these things start small and then self perpetuate if they are not stamped out. They have not been stamped out and now there is a chain reaction of sorts happening. It has gotten bigger than the cage that was designed to hold it, so to speak.

This is precisely why this should have been put to referendum:

"a general vote by the electorate on a single political question that has been referred to them for a direct decision."

Or held special proposition votes even national votes.

The Supreme Court is legislating from the bench {again} and the Justices who voted against the very Constitution they are there to protect in the first place should be reined in!

"The Supreme Court is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution. The Supreme Court, however, is far from all-powerful. Its power is limited by the other two branches of government. The President nominates justices to the court."

Justice Roberts admits the decision is (in other words) unconstitutional:

Chief Justice Roberts of the Supreme Court admitted that the ruling completely ignored the Constitution of the United States and that churches can expect that the government will penalize churches that refuse to do gay marriages.  He also admits that Obama has planned on pushing the gay agenda on churches.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
