IMHO the Glory of God is Jesus Christ.

For we are told:

29)  That no flesh should glory in His presence.

30)  But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom., and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption;

31)  That according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

I Corinthians 1:29-31

For of myself I have no wisdom or righteousness but in Christ Jesus I have the Lord's wisdom thru the Spirit and my sinfulness is made the righteousness of Christ, and am redeem and made holy by my Precious Lord.  So all this is God's glory in His Son.

I believe the glory of the Lord is the manifest presence and power of the Holy Spirit. It appears in a cloud, or signs and wonders in the life of Jesus. It also brings glory to God.

The Glory of the Lord often appeared as a cloud.

Exodus16:10 Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.

When Moses asked to see His glory, it was His very presence and goodness manifest.

Exodus 33:18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”

19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. When Solomon dedicated the temple, the Glory of the Lord manifested in a cloud and it was so thick that people couldn't continue to minister.
 

1 Kings 8:10 And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

12 Then Solomon spoke:

“The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud.
13 I have surely built You an exalted house,
And a place for You to dwell in forever.”

 

 

When Jesus performed miracles, He was manifesting this glory. He carried the presence and power of God through the Holy Spirit, and also doing things that only God could do that brings Him glory. 

John 2:9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

When Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead, he attributed seeing him raise as seeing the glory of God.

John 11:40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”


Now reflecting on how John describes the glory of God as Jesus manifesting His power. It makes the Lord's prayer in John 17 interesting.

John 17:20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

The glory of God is the beauty of His spirit. It is not an aesthetic beauty or a material beauty, but it is the beauty that emanates from His character, from all that He is.James 1:10calls on a rich man to “glory in his humiliation,” indicating a glory that does not mean riches or power or material beauty. This glory can crown man or fill the earth. It is seen within man and in the earth, but it is not of them; it is of God. The glory of man is the beauty of man’s spirit, which is fallible and eventually passes away, and is therefore humiliating—as the verse tells us. But the glory of God, which is manifested in all His attributes together, never passes away. It is eternal.

The glory of God is primarily the supernatural and intense brightness or outshining of God, which was never fully revealed to men.  But it can also mean all of His attributes and character which bring honor, and glory, and praise to Him.

 

His goodness, His grace, His mercy, are all aspects of the glory of God.  Furthermore, Scripture tells us that the glory of God is in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Once again, that is His supernatural brightness, coupled with all the attributes and perfections of God and found in Him -- for in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily (Col 2:9).

 

We had a thread on whether or not God is literally pure uncreated Light.  Many resisted and rejected this truth.  But Scripture plainly reveals that GOD IS LIGHT, not merely on the moral and spiritual plane, but also in His very essence and His outshining.  That is indeed the excellent glory of God.

4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,

5 (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

24 And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

25 Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

26 For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

27 Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.

29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

If by glory you refer to the glory Jesus prayed in John 17:5 to be restored to him which he had before the world was...

 

1. Some believe it is the exoneration from the accusation by fallen angels that he is not fair or just. 

 

2. Some believe it is the restoration to glory in heaven which he did not have since the incarnation began (my problem with this is that his incarnation took place after the world began).

 

3. Some believe it is the restoration of his glory he had before what he created fell and he was responsible for (though not guilty of).

 

I believe # 1. It would solve many things about why we were created and in the manner we were created (hybrid, able to die therefore be redeemed).
